The court proceedings against Chief Election Officer Keith Lowenfield and Returning Officer Clairmont Mingo have been adjourned until next month.
Lowenfield, who is facing three charges of forgery and misconduct in public office in wake of the March 2 elections, was informed that due to the magistrate presiding over the matter having to attend seminars, the matters were being postponed.
A reliable source told this newspaper that Lowenfield attended court on both Wednesday and Thursday and on both days he was told the matter was postponed for a later date. Lowenfield is facing three counts of misconduct in public office and three counts of forgery.
Mingo, who has been individually and jointly charged with forgery and conspiracy to defraud in relation to events that followed the March 2, 2020 general and regional elections, is expected to return to court on December 21 for a fiat regarding the matters brought against him to be laid over to the court in a manner that will distinguish each charge correctly.
Mingo and APNU+AFC agent Carol Joseph were jointly charged with one count of forgery and they are each also facing two counts of conspiracy to defraud. Mingo was also charged along with PNCR chairwoman Volda Lawrence with one count of conspiring to commit fraud. Mingo is also charged with four counts of misconduct in public office. He is currently on $600,000 bail in relation to those matters.
