[www.inewsguyana.com] – Qualfon commissioned a world class facility on Thursday, March 26 at Providence, East Bank Demerara aback the National Stadium as the company continues to expand its base in Guyana.

The US$12M facility will serve as a campus where persons employed by the company will be trained before they begin working. Qualfon is a global provider of contact center, back-office and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services with locations in Mexico, Phillipines, USA and Guyana.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by several high level company executives along with President Donald Ramotar, Finance Minister Dr Ashni Singh and Chairman of the Private Sector Commission, Ramesh Persaud among other dignitaries.Qualfon 3

In his address, President Ramotar said the facility will be a definite boost to Guyana’s human capital, pointing out that while training will be done for Qualfon, simultaneously, persons will be improving on their knowledge of information technology.

“We all recognize the importance of developing the human capital…it goes to the very philosophy of my government; the most important factor for development is not just all the natural resources we have…but life has shown us that the most important factor for development is the quality of people that we have,” the President said.

He pointed out that the private sector should take advantage of Guyana’s qualified workforce. Returning to the point of information technology, he noted that the government is looking to establish an Information Technology center at Providence.

This centre he boasted, once completed, will have the capacity to supply the South American region with reliable internet data.

Meanwhile, company officials told reporters that once the project is completed, they are expected to spend some US$12M. The Official noted that the campus will have a similar building, a medical facility and an administration building.

It was explained too that the facility is expected to host some 3,000 workers once it is completed. In the near future, the company will be hiring and training persons to work at the site with an employee target area being along the East Bank corridor. The campus is expected to commence operations on May 5.
