There are many Opposition members in Parliament who are on the state payroll but they don't work for Granger nor do they have any obligation to toe his line. If that was the case,  then the current government while in opposition would have been obligated to toe the PPP line but they did not do. The PNC has always been intolerant of a noisy opposition. What they are doing now is a repeat of what they have done before. The gov't. is doing everything possible to put fear into the population about saying anything that would get the regime upset. This is not a good message the people of this country is receiving.  Many people crossed party line and ethnic and voted for change in gov't. for a better Guyana. Many took the risk hoping that the strength of our democracy would ensure that past abuses of power, mainly the PNC era, would never be repeated. If these demonstrators who are demanding firings and apologies are not supported by this gov't. then we ought to get an official response from the gov't. stating this clearly.  So far, they regime seems all happy about it.
