[www.inewsguyana.com] – The Private Sector Commission has expressed its concern the “many terminations and dismissals in the public sector which have been occurring recently.”

The Commission in a statement said it is particularly concerned about the perceived political influence over these dismissals with the authorities not adhering to established procedures and not allowing for natural justice.

“The laws which govern terminations of service are clear, that just and sufficient cause for dismissals must be established and that such cause must relate to the conduct and capacity of the employee. The Termination of Employment Act further places the burden of proof for establishing cause on the employer and, consequently, if just and sufficient cause cannot be established, there can be no valid or lawful grounds for dismissal,” the PSC statement noted.

According to the statement, the majority of those dismissed /terminated in public humiliation gives credence to wide spread perception of political discrimination and victimization despite human rights guaranteed in our Constitution and labour laws and in international treaties(Conventions).

The Private Sector Commission is alarmed at the climate of fear which has arisen in the national community because of what is being seen as selective dismissals and would like to urge that the labour laws on termination and discrimination and best practices inhuman resource management be followed to allay fears of victimization and political discrimination.”

The PSC is calling on the State and its agents to build confidence and cultivate an environment conducive to fostering national trust through fairness, equality of treatment, non-discrimination, and social justice for all citizens.

Debunking the PPP lies

“There are persons who were on contracts, it expired and were not renewed. This is a jeopardy which in fact the PPP administration placed a number of public servants in. Because had they been in the public service, there is a particular procedure which have to be followed but they forced a lot of public servants to go onto this contract arrangement by giving them inducements of a gratuity every six months or gratuity every three months…but what that gave the government is time control over these public servants,” Harmon explained

Pointblank

I see Jagdeo still owns the PSC.  How come they never had any mouth during the PPP regime?  When the PPP engaged in the same behavior, where was the PSC.

OOOPs....I forgot.  Many of them were in some high end bar, holding their noses and complaining that there were too many "negroes" (people like Nigel Hughes) present.

Private Sector Commission lambastes govt over apparent politically motivated dismissals

The Private Sector Commission (PSC) on Friday lashed out at government sacking several public sector employees, saying that it smacks of "political discrimination" and the organisation urged the administration not to violate Guyana's labour laws.

"The great majority of those dismissed /terminated in public humiliation gives credence to wide spread perception of political discrimination and victimization despite human rights guaranteed in our Constitution and labour laws and in international treaties(Conventions)," said the PSC.

The umbrella business organisation's outcry followed the sending home of several workers from the Ministry of the Presidency, Ministry of Local Government and more recently the Guyana Power and Light.

A number of persons, backed by a battery of lawyers closely linked to the opposition People's Progressive Party (PPP), has sued the government for salaries and benefits.

Following is the full text of the PSC's statement:

When the PPP was in power, I asked for a list of blacks in leadership position.  I got Sam Hinds, Robeson Benn, and Roger Luncheon.  I got no heads of state owned corporations, commissions or committees.  Clearly the vast majority of these were Indians.

1.  Are you suggesting that the vast majority of these were Indians under the prior PNC.  Obviously not, so clearly blacks were displaced.

2.  Given that the vast majority of these heads were Indians, then clearly the vast majority of those dismissed are.

So what are your screams.  The PPP came in and got rid of blacks and now wail that APNU has come in and is getting rid of Indians.

When I wrote about African exclusion by the PPP, you and the others called me a racist.

Well maybe I should return the favor now and call you a racist for wanting to talk about race.

People who cheered when the PPP turned Guyana into India in terms of those who headed state entities should remain quiet, because clearly they have no problem with ethnic exclusion.

Here is the deal.  The PPP kicked Africans, having the arrogant notion that they would rule for ever.  Well they LOST.

Stormborn used to long warn that the racist nonsense of the PPP would ultimately hurt Indians, given the shrinking Indian, and expanding mixed identified populations.   You all laughed at him abd hurled all kinds of racist insults because he is part Amerindian.

So I really don't care about your wails now, because you all were high on the hog, with an arrogant attitude that "coolie pan tap, blackman DONE."

The PPP got what was coming to them.  Stormborn frequently warned Indians that, as a shrinking population, their racist attitudes to non Indians would hurt them.  You all laughed and called him a buckman.

If I am a racist because I called attention to PPP exclusion of blacks then you are a racist for claiming that APNU is discriminating against Indians.

What goes around comes around.

If they wished to prove ethnic favoritism on the part of APNU, and simultaneously indicate that the PPP didn't engage in this behavior they need to show lists of who have been dismissed, and who have been retained.  They would need to show that the APNU is only ridding itself of Indians, and retaining the PPP appointed blacks.

Well the only PPP minister who is now in court is a black PPP minister.  Even Luncheon has screamed that the PPP is only defending Indians, and leaving the black PPP to be boiled alive by the PNC.

So who are these clowns fooling.

1.  The PPP appointed people who were corrupt and incompetent, and many were unqualified and inept.

2.  The PPP was racist, so almost all of these people are Indians.

These are the facts that these clowns do not wish to discuss.

Even as the APNU/AFC are pouring billions of dollars to rescue the rice and sugar industries, and black bauxite workers are seeing the pay reduced.  Why do they not talk about THAT!

This is the same old PNC that 99 percent of Indos are afraid of. Their fears are justified as the PNC starts phase one of their ethnic cleansing.

Phase two will affect friends and families of the AFC.

I guess night is coming and you haven't found a PNC pole to pound you, so you chat this ignorance in the hope that an enraged PNC blackman decides to "punish" you.
