So,four people were killed by teargas and rubber bullets Baseman?

You have to be an idiot for a Home Affairs Minister or Commissioner of Police if you send forces to a protest and don't anticipate the possibility of violence erupting. It only happens in very country around the world.

And in every Country heads get cracked when People misbehave.

And in every country there are worse riots which are handled professionally without loss of life. Black people lives are cheap to the PPP and its supporters so what's a few more dead negroes to add to the hundreds you already slaughtered with your Phantoms.

It is the Crabdaag Ramjattan, GR and Moses who believe the lives of a few AfroGuyanese will bring them FAME and FORTUNE. Why were they not at the front of the Protest if they really care for the POOR people of Linden?????

They were once Freedom House regulars so they know of the PPP's propensity to murder any dissenters.

Yeah, they were causing trouble when they were shot in the backs running away from the police.

But what's a few more dead black people. No big deal compared to the hundreds the PPP already slaughtered with their Phantoms.

Objectivity is NOT the MO of the opposition.  There is a broader agenda to eject the PPP from power by whatever means.  The people of Guyana will respond dramatically next election, people will be shell-shocked.  Those who have a few cards in their hands and waving it like swords, will suddenly end up holding toilet paper.

If you were impartial you wouldnt be justifying the murder.  You would ask yourself why, after 20 years the PPP is still hated by AfroGuyanese.  Why has the PPP made virtually no inroads.  Why did they show up in huge numbers to vote against the PPP.

But you arent impartial.  You just want to make Ramotar a saint.

Well if Ramotar behaves like Forbes Burnham we will treat him the same...as if he is a blood thirsty MONSTER.

Any way go and celebrate the slaughter of blacks....you and the rest of your blkack hating PPP crew.  Yes "show dem black man"......that being the new PPP mantra.  "Yes after all those concerts and T shirts we gave them they dare to vote against us".

No he is just happy the "PPP show dem ungrateful black man" about what will happen to them if they dare protest.

This reminds me about how black racists celebrated when they heard about how Burnham's goons beat up PPP protesters in the 70s.

I see no difference now. Only the race of those kicking and being kicked has now been switched.  Guyana just cant help being Guyana.

I did support the AFC as  fresh and "change-oriented" party with a new and progressive message.  However, it became evident that the AFC was on a trajectory of partisanship and not balanced.  It become dominated with personalities who were only interested in revenge against the PPP.  This was not what I wanted from a viable AFC.

I stick to certain principles and will continue doing so.  I am still critical of the PPP over certain policies but the AFC is not the solution either.  I do like certain things of the PNC but cannot support them given their nexus with the GDF and a return to the LFSB days.

I have found the PNC to be somewhat balanced and open to suggestions and finding solutions.  The PPP and PNC must find common ground to alleviate the issues of Guyana.  Any solution to Guyana's problems will only come from both of these forces. With all that, I do harbor a deep mistrust of the PNC.

And yet the PPP refused to seriously dialogue with the PNC,  and allowed an extremely racist diatribe to be printed in its news rag.  Most certainly PNC supporters, who have faced PPP bullets twice since Ramotar appeared on the scene, can be excused for laughing at your notion that the PPP can be seen as being part of an serious negotiations.  As of now the PPP needs to do some serious soul searching if they really want to be viewed as being interested in national unity.

APNU speaks for over 40% of all Guyanese so it matters not whether you trust them or not.  They cannot be demonized by the likes of you as they have a large constituency which expects them to represent their interests and protect them against the blood soaked rage of black haters within the PPP.  To demonize them means to demonize these supporters.  The PPP ha slost what ever moral high ground that they thought that they had over the PNC as we see them capable of the same dastardly acts, and not once but TWICE within 8 months.

Nah bai, I would like to see dialogue and cooperation with the PNC.  I do agree, the PNC does represent a significant constituency and should be part of and solution.  You know that has always been my position, as long as it's not blackmail.

hmmm. Linden a very poor town yet you scream that they are this privileged group.  Why would they not laugh at you?

I also recall that sugar workers are better paid than are many other Guyanese workers also enjoying a whole range of benefits from Guysuco.  So using your logic they should never protest, or if they do bullets would be an appropriate response.

Read the comment from the Prime Minister regarding Linden vis-a-vis the rest of Guyana.

Please list these benefits that Sugar workers get.  Furthermore, the Linden issue is not Bauxite workers, the subsidized electricity was a "free-for-all", not linked to employment.  Guysuco do not provide open-ended subsidies to villagers at large.

To claim that the issue isnt about the bauxite industry when Linden is a one industry town...bauxite and not much else is ridiculous.  If people dont have work because the twon is depressed then they will not wnat to see theier cost of living increase.

Now go to Leonora and tell the sugar workers that its OK to shut down sugar and see if they dont protest.

BTW sugar workers have long benefitted from training, land and housing schemes at subsidized rates, since the Bookers days.  And yes, wages that are higher than Guyanese with similar skills.  The demerara sugar estates have been huge money losers and massive investment was made at the RoseHall fiasco, to ensure that the livelihoods of PPP supporters are protected.

Sam Hinds is regarded as a soup licking idiot by Lindeners.  They showed their opinion of him most recently last November.  This after almost abandoing the PNC in 2006 when almost half of them refused to vote.

So who do I believe. A PPP stooge or the majority of Lindeners.  Their condition isnt good and they have no confidence that the PPP cares one iota.

The majority spoke.

"Soup Licking", eh.  I guess you would not mind some soup yourself.

What do you expect from the Lindeners, they want the subsidize product, that's ok, but they are not the party to give an objective report.  Before jumping the gun, you should support the PNC/PPP call for an independent investigation.

See what I mean by your rejoicing.  You know that Linden is depressed and impoverished because of the bauxite industry. OPne with massive unemployment and significant malnutrition, as many who eat at restaurants and have to offer hungry kides food know.

But you refuse to see this.  Yes these are black people so deserving of nothing we know.  Your views are well known.

Whether or not you agree with them an objective person would note that in a depressed town one would expect opposition and any such move should have been combined with a well articulated plan to mitigate this through aggressive attempts to attract investment.  That you are dealing with a town in the middle of a very poor quality soil so there are few immediate alternatives to bauxite which has laid off the vast majority of its employees.  This is a SPECIAL CASE.

But the PPP screams "we gun show dem ungrateful black people who didnt vote for us".  So we now have this prpblem.

When a law enforcement officer act against a black rioter under a PPP led government is racist. When a law enforcement officer act against an Indian law breaker, what do you call it? For you, everything is colored that rest on a racial stigma. Guyana is still Guyana, whether black or Indian is ruling. Law enforcement officers must be neutral at all times and carried out orders when directed to do so to keep the peace.

On a personal note between me and you: When you want to speak about black and bad and what the govt intended to do; you must also mention that black like yourself only hope to downgrade another Black man when he's doing his job. Furthermore, Black men must reserve themselves to be bribed with cheap beer and rum to participate in "mo-fiya-slow-fiya" mentality. The Linden uprising is a black habit that we experience for twenty-eight years and Granger aim is to bring it back. We, the Indians will never let that happen again. You and redux mind is as twisted as a pretzel.

When Black men become meemakarams is a bad thing.

You have a very strange definition of "rejoice".  Read the PM's statement on the matter.  He is at a better vantage point than you.

Bottom-line, the rest of the nation should not be asked to subsidize Lindeners who seem to splurge in the resource.  They are "poor and improvished", yet they consume 4X the rest of the national average.

Caribj, no matter which angle you look at it, subsidy is beyond justification.

Baseman let me ask you a question. When OWS blocked major bridges in NYC and staged huge marches on May 1st aimed at closing down Wall Street, should Bloomberg have shot them down.  You know if he did so all of you would be wailing at how terrible the USA is.  You would demand their right to protest, regardless as to whether one agreed with them.

Guyana where race comes into play, protesters, if black, dont have these rights.

The issue is not whether Lindeners deserve cheaper electricity. The issue is their right to protest their opposition to rates being raised.  They did and were SHOT!!!! People died. End of story.  The violence which ensued came AFTER the police fired tear gas at them. The video, which attempted to justify police behavior because the people disobeyed the orders to move showed tear gas being fired and no stones at that point being thrown.  Subsequent violence was afunction of police incompetent handling of a volatile situation.

If the PPP recognized the right of Guyanese to protest this would not have happened.

So you are OK if police shoot at people in Leonora if they blocka bridge, and people die.  INDIAN people killed by BLACK police.

You know full well you will not support this qand will blame the PNC and scream anout how terrible the AFC is not to stop it.......despite the fcat that you know full well the AFC will indeed condemn this as loudly as they do the fiasco in Linden.

You think it will not happen.  Dont be too sure.  Yes you and Sugrim and all those who find excuses for this barbarity set a dangerous precedent.

ANy way Burnham shot and killed Lindeners when they protested so Ramotar felt he had to do the same.  Oh yes both will claim no responsibility, but you and I know the police in Guyana do nothing unless their acts will at least not be publicly condemned by the govt in power.

Evidently you didnt know that the OWS shut down a huge port (Oakland) for severfal days and millions of dollars of commerce was lost.  Did the police shoot to kill. NO!!!!!

They tried to do the same with Wall Street, but failed because the ignoramus dont know that most trading is now done electronically.  Did Bloomberg shoot them.  NO!!!!

As of the time when the violence started the protesters were doping no more than OWS. Refusing a police order to move.

But you see the authorities in the USA are more afraid of the repercussions of US citizens being killed while exercising their democratic rights, even if not approved by the local authorities. In Guyana the govts of the day dont care.

This behavior is of the same ilk as the slaughter of demonstrators in Chicago at the Democratic convention in 1972, an act seen by most as a sordid act and a disgrace.

Put it this way.  At least OWS and others can protest about this and not be shot down like rabid dogs.

Not so Guyana.

Wow, that was a surprisingly short counter-point!

You wish me to celebrate when a black man is used by a ruthless govt.  Sorry I can no more celebrate this than when other black men in a previous times also were used by the equally racist WHITE colonial masters to shoot and kill protesting blacks.  I do believe the "move or else" language used is very similar.

So Guyana now deals in protests the same way that it did when Kowsilla was murdered. She also refused to move when ordered and the police definitely considered that protest to be illegal.  But she is Indian so is a hero in your eyes.
