If my parents are Hindus, can I be a born Hindu when religion has no part of my genetic make-up? I would have to adapt my parent's religion, or just kick-up the search warrant for Jesus. There are lots of misconceptions in this question. Hindus claimed to be a natural selection of Godly species without conversion, as it was done in Islam and Christianity. What's your take?

That you must be born a Hindu is a hindutva precept. If you cared much to discover who you are you would have read the scriptures and gain some understanding. Hinduism is mainly philosophical ie Brahma is everything and everything is Brahma. It excludes any other reality. Hinduism is also henotheistic ie it does not prescribe what god must be. It simply say the reality you think is your existence is an illusion. You have only one identity and that is as part of the eternal oneness that is everything.

I invite everyone to read The Holy Quran, a book that came to all mankind not only Muslims.

Chief should consider Ahmadiyya Islam as a choice.  I met an Egyptian Ahmadiyya Muslim recently. He has never been to India yet he knows everything about Krishna and his teachings.  Yet Chief (whose ancestors were born Hindus) knows nothing about Krishna

Prashad, please don't escalate my question around Chief and what he should believe in. Religion is a sensitive topic and it must be given the utmost respect. I was confronted with this question before that I feel privileged to gain a better understanding of it. Ten heads are better than one.

The gist of this bhajan: I do not know the tempo of the tune of my bhajans but I do know how to sing a bhajan. I know also that bhajan I sing has deep meaning when I only know how to utter the words , Prabhu Prabhu Prabhu... with misty eyes filled with devotional tears.

Interesting. I have this CD with about 12 of Mukesh's bhajans. I listened to it quite often.
