Quincy Dos Santos highlights Sunday night action for Pacesetters

GABA/Powerade/Rainforest Water/Malta Supreme tourney

The Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association’s, Banks DIH, Powerade/Rainforest Water/Malta Supreme, sponsored league continued on Sunday at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Homestretch Avenue with three games. The first game began at 5:30 PM and it witnessed Plaisance Guardians falling to second place Pacesetters 77-66 in the Under-23 category.
Pacesetters were led by a spirited performance by Quincy Dos Santos who scored a game high 27 points that including a whopping 6 three-pointers. Tafawa Daley was very involved in the pacesetters win as well with 17 points, counting 2 three-pointers along the way. Marvin Durant (10 points) and Stephen Peters (8 points) ensured that Pacesetters stay in the race to achieve a surprise U-23 championship berth with valuable contributions.
Plaisance Guardians, who led the game in the first quarter 18-11, surrendered their advantage in the second quarter and never retrieved it. Jared Sears played well with a team high 21 points inclusive of 3 three-pointers. He was supported with 15 points (inclusive of 2 three-pointers) from Anthony Fileen in the losing effort.
The second match of the evening was a first division encounter between the struggling Kobras and Knights. The Kobras won the battle of the minnows 77-55.
Travis Burnett led the fight 15 points for Kobras supported by Patrick Reid (10 points) and Keith Tute (9 points).
For Knights, Kester Gomes scored 15 points and Lloyd Bart had 10 points.
Nets delivered a loss to the University of Guyana Trojans in the third match on Sunday. The First division encounter finished 69-51. In the Nets 18-point win, their top scorers in the game were Pelham Doris (11 points), Tristan Tullock with 8 points and Hodyah Stewart (8 points).
