Ramjattan ready to accept recount results

Khemraj Ramjattan

Although the incumbent APNU+AFC coalition has publicly maintained that the elections were not credible, its Prime Ministerial candidate Khemraj Ramjattan on Wednesday told members of his staff that he is prepared to accept the results of the national recount of votes cast at the March 2nd polls which show a victory for the opposition PPP/C.

Ramjattan, who is Minister of Public Security and the leader of the Alliance For Change, made the admission during a meeting where he thanked unit heads at the Public Security Ministry for their work.

“I rather suspect that tomorrow there might be a declaration that the numbers were against us… I am prepared to accept and move on and I wanted to not miss the opportunity because if it happens tomorrow say… I will be out and I will not have said a word of thank you for provisioning of so many of your expertise and experiences that made me a better minister than when I came,” Ramjattan said in the engagement, from which an audio recording was leaked yesterday.

"I rather suspect that tomorrow there might be a declaration that the numbers were against us..."

Key words: SUSPECT and MIGHT.

Yet the PPP rigging cabals are running with what was nothing more than a speculative statement.

I think you have come to accept defeat and are ashamed to publicly acknowledge a crushing defeat. ONWARD PPP FOREVER: PNC NEVER AGAIN.

Ramjattan said he wanted to thank everyone for making him a better Minister than when he came in 2015. Was he ever a Minister prior to 2015? I think he learned how to become a minister and it seemed to have been quite a challenge for him.

He was a minister in waiting.  The only contribution he ever tried to make was when he tabled a motion to change the Marxist image of the PPP. It was defeated and action speaks louder than words.  He revealed to the country that was not a democratic person.

Quite an interesting assessment defining democracy .

Here is a refresher.

Criticisms of Socialism / In defence of Capitalism:There have been some criticisms of socialism.

The Marxist Doctrine has been claimed to be a democratic one. However socialism involves using violence in order to gain control which is not the principle of a democratic doctrine.

Marxism has also been criticised for making too many simplistic assumptions about human nature, behaviour and society and sees everything in terms of class struggle. Marxism focuses mainly on economic factors and ignores cultural, traditional and other factors.

Another criticism of Marxism is that it does not encourage development of new products which in turn stunts development of new technology. This is an argument in favour of capitalism

@Mitwah, in 2016 Donald Trump won the U.S. presidential election with only 46.1% of the popular vote. Clearly over 53% did not vote for the Republican party. But Americans don't make that an issue.

Donald Trump ,became President because of our Democratic Electoral System. Not sure if you read the American Constitution ,it's short and precise.

Typical nonsense ,to hide facts.

Rama ,some times you are not making sense.

The British System of Education was changed in the early 70's. The system adopted remains until today ,now tell us if the whole country currently are dunces.

Ten percent are not.   Those who went to queens and Bishops.  But that not the point I am making.   The trained Teachers are gone.

You were educated during the Burnham era and it speaks volumes about you.

Unlike you, most of us moved on, emancipated ourselves and better our lots.

In most families, most generations are encouraged to do better than the previous.

I was not educated during the Burnham era.    Left secondary school in 1964.    You don't know me.

A lot of these folks here are chained to the past and cannot/do not want to let go. My folks tell me of horrific atrocities that were committed on both sides. Today, I still see those incidents and experiences still shaping attitudes and politics. As you said you have to move on. There is tremendous healing in the power of forgiveness.

You left too early. Need to work on your English grammar and expression.

Pity your students.

I have said it time and again here. Hypocrisy shows its true colors when it's the other party. There are no facts to hide here. The man had a gun in his right hand and was surveying the room to find dissenters. Look at the expression on his face. Rain nah fall ah waan man door.

There are probably another 999 stories behind the picture.
