PRESIDENTIAL Candidate for the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C), Mr. Donald Ramotar questioned, last Thursday, about whether or not he felt “worried” about being “overshadowed” by President Bharrat Jagdeo, said he never worried. The occasion was a news conference Ramotar hosted, along with Parliamentary Secretary Steve Ninvalle, at PPP Headquarters, Freedom House, Robb Street, Georgetown.
The questioner suggested that photographs often depict President Jagdeo with Ramotar always “two steps behind.”
“I’m never worried,” Ramotar responded, adding: “When President Jagdeo assumed the office, he, for years, was accused of being a Freedom House puppet, my puppet… he was accused of being Janet Jagan’s puppet…but now you (the Capitol News reporter) are taking a different line altogether.
Meanwhile, Friday, September 16, has been dedicated as a Day of Appreciation for President Jagdeo.
Guyanese from all walks of life, along with friends of Guyana will come together in one accord on that day to celebrate the achievements of the President.
Jagdeo will be one of the first presidents in the Caribbean to gracefully demit office because of his signing into law the constitutional term limit. He had legalised changes to the Constitution limiting the term of office for the Head of State.
