The Guyana Badminton Association Badminton School Vacation Camp, which was made possible through the Ministry of Education Unit of Allied Arts, concluded yesterday at the National Gymnasium. βThe GBA is extremely happy to have this Camp done as it brings out players from all parts of the country. We hope to make it a very big one next year. Special thanks go out to Nicholas Fraser, Errol Nelson of Banks DIH for refreshments, the National Sports Commission, for the use of the Gymnasium and the Tutor/Coach Narayan Ramdhani for conducting the camp,β said GBA President Gokarn Ramdhani. The Camp was conducted by Certified Tutor/Coach National Senior Player Narayan Ramdhani who is home on holiday from his Scholarship programme in Vancouver where he is training Badminton at the Shuttlesport Badminton Academy and pursuing his Degree at Douglas College. The Two-week Camp, which started on July 10, saw the players learning basic badminton skills, fitness and warming up and down exercises and concluded with a Mini Tournament to end off in a very competitive way. In this tournament Domitre Rankin defeated Shamar Bruce 21-19 in the Finals. The Third place was taken by Angelie Balram, while the Fourth place went to Amelia Balram, while Narayan awarded a Racket to the Winner & Runner-up. (Sean Devers)
