The APNU+AFC used close to half a billion dollars ($479M) to complete the Durban Park Development Project to facilitate the hosting of Guyana’s 50th anniversary celebrations. This was revealed during a breakdown of close to $3 billion, which it spent in addition to the 2016 National Budget.

Here's a look at some of the expenditure provided by Finance Minister Winston Jordan yesterday:

1. $234 million was spent by the Agriculture Ministry as part of its subsidies and contri...butions to local organisations.

2. The Public Health Ministry utilised an additional $63.5 million to pay rental for the storage of pharmaceuticals between March and June of this year, in addition to payments for rental to the Linden Holding Company, “as per Cabinet decision for the month of July 2016” in addition to the payment of a security deposit.

3. $20 million was used by the GDF “as provision to offset expenses for the procurement of maps and writing materials which aided in the development of Orders and other related documents in support of the 46th Republic anniversary celebrations, 50th Independence anniversary celebrations and intensifying operation DRAGNET.”
The GDF also benefited from an additional $54 million. This money was utilised for “operational readiness of ranks for parades that ensured the success of operation DRAGNET over the 46th Republic Day and 50th independence anniversary celebrations.

The Finance Minister also submitted a second financial paper totalling just over $2 billion to be spent by a number of Government budget agencies including the recently established Telecommunications Ministry.

Where did all this money come from?  I thought the PPP boys thief out all.

The PPP should have done an audit in 1992. They didn't because the whole nation new the PNC and its supporters ate everything including the bricks and stones off many roads. There was no money to pay Gulsarran to do an audit. The treasury was empty and the government began to downsize the ministries to cut costs.  On the contrary, in 2015 the new gov't. began to increase staffing in the ministries in addition to creating new ministries plus giving the huge salary increases.  Hundreds of millions began to flow in the pockets into these so-called independent auditors. In spite of all of this they are telling the nation that the PPP emptied the coffers and there is nothing left to give a salary increase to average employee.   Even a gaddaha with half brain can see that this regime is out to line its pocket and ruin Guyana again.

The PPP couldn't afford an audit in 1992.  They inherited a bankrupt country.  These PNC nuts inherited a windfall in 2015 and they are now pi$$ing it away.  Worst yet, they are on the road to bankruptcy once again!

Don't underestimate the magical powers of the current government. They have had no problems finding lots of money from a "broke" treasury.

So if the PPP left a windfall why did Guysuco beg Grnager for $$$ before he even sat down in his chair. Wails that if they didn't get $$$ right away that GuySICKO would collapse.

Is the situation at GuySICKO evidence that the PPP ran its enterprises well?

More efficient collection of revenues they will tell you.  The PPP Friends and Family now have to pay taxes and other fees.  This is why Jagdeo is running around scream Indian Holocaust.

The IMF asserts that these guys are running a tighter financial ship than did the PPP, with smaller public sector deficits.
