WOW has altered the lives of many single parent women for the better. And now it will be expanded to capture other vulnerable groups

Hopefully, the participants would benefit from this programme to improve themselves plus assist others.

WOW is empowering women in Guyana and sustaining economic growth to the country. Be it, a single mother or an entrepreneur, WOW can realize many dreams if you're serious about self-improvements. The AFC needs to take a look at courageous people and a program that works for Guyanese women. I am saying it again, Guyana cannot survive with lazy people who're inclined to burden the working class.

ONE year later, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) is very proud of Women of Worth (WOW), a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security, with 1029 loans approved, valuing $190M and with a 96 percent repayment rate.
"The number of loans disbursed to date, and the high repayment rate augurs well for the success of this WOW loan Plan. With 1029 women benefiting from this Loan Plan, we believe our objectives of empowering women, helping them to develop their entrepreneurial skills and gain financial independence by having a sustainable means of income, integrating them into the business sector, helping to improve their social and economic status and that of their children, are being realised and we are encouraged by these results," said GBTI

This is a good programme, Uncle Tola. The AFC will continue these where private banks are willing to come on board. However, the AFC will go much further and establish a State Development Bank, run by a board of professionals and not political operatives. Such a bank will offer low-interest loans to all eligible Guyanese.quote:Originally posted by Tola:

In a small country like Guyana how is it possible to run a bank like this without some political tricky dickiness?

The Guyanese women are very appreciated of the WOW programme and are benefiting greatly from such a brilliant initiative....
The P.P.P/C has all Guyanese at heart....especially those of the working class
