Regal All Stars and Mastersβ teams will be aware of the challenges when they depart Guyana shortly to defend their New York Softball Cricket League Independence Cup Masters and Open titles.
The tournament is set to be played on June 30, July 1 and July 2 at Roy Wilkins Park. Regal who won the Open and Mastersβ titles in the Florida Cup 2016 have named their teams for both categories. Masters; Troy Kippins (Capt.), Mahendra Hardyal, Mohendra Arjune, David Harper, Eric Thomas, Mahase Chunilall, Eon Abel, Fazleem Mohamed, Rudolph Baker, Laurie Singh, Abdool Samad, Parsram Persaud, Shaun Massiah and Rudy Rodrigues. Clyde Butts (Manager). Inderjeet Persaud (Media liaison.) Regal All Stars defeated the New York All Stars to win last yearβs final. After restricting the home team to 194, Regal were precariously placed at 67-7, but recovered through an excellent partnership between Richard Latif and Safraz Esau to win the title. Latif scored 70 and Esau 67 not out. Regal Masters defeated Floodlights to win the Masters category. Floodlights managed 151 batting first and Regal Masters responded with 152-5 with Mahendra Hardyal scoring 52 and Eric Thomas 36.
