Regal Masters and All stars were crowned champions when the Regal Sports softball competition concluded at Everest Cricket Club. Regal Masters defeated Ariel Masters by 15 runs. Batting first, Regal Masters scored 124-8 off their allotted 15 overs. Eon Abel struck two fours and one six in a top score of 20 while Fazleem Mohamed and David Harper made 19 each and Mohendra Arjune 16. S. Mohabir claimed 3-25. Ariel Masters were restricted to 105-8 in reply. K. Ramoutar scored 30 with four fours and one six while Harper picked up 3-15 and Saheed Mohamed 2-16. In the Open final, Regal All stars overcame Speedboat by 65 runs. Regal All stars took first strike and posted 167-9 off their allocation of 15 overs. Sachin Singh stroked one four and four sixes in scoring a rapid 33, while Marvin Bobb and Fazal Rafiek made 30 each. Greg Singh and I. Hamid captured 2-23 apiece. Speedboat were sent packing for 102 in 12.2 overs in reply. B. Baldwin and W. Sundal got 20 and 17 respectively; Wazir Hussain snared 4-25 and Narine Bailey 2-19. Regal Masters and All stars became the first team to win both Masters and Open titles when they achieved the feat in the Guyana Cup in 2015, they then went on to win both titles in the New York Softball Cricket League and Florida Cup in 2016. Speaking after the presentation ceremony, Captain of the Regal All stars team Fazal Rafiek congratulated his players on their performance and said the win has lifted their confidence going into the Prime Ministerβs T20 Cup slated for October. Regal Masters Skipper Mohendra Arjune said his charges executed well and played as a unit. The Prime Ministerβs T20 Cup, which was launched recently at the Everest Cricket Club, will be played in Georgetown starting on October 27 and conclude two days later. It is being held in collaboration with the National Sports Commission and the Ministry of Education Department of Culture, Youth and Sport.
