Rawl Reid grabbed five wickets as Farm defeated Speedboat by five wickets when the Regal Sports 20-over softball tournament continued yesterday at Everest Cricket Club.
Playing in the Open category, Reid finished with 5-27 off four overs as Speedboat were restricted to 120-9, batting first. Shazim Hussain made 29 while Greg Singh got 27. Farm responded with 121-5 in 12.3 overs. Lincoln Leander led with 45 while Reid returned to hit 25. Vishnu Tammechandra took two wickets. Farm beat De Hoop by 24 runs in their second game of the day. Batting first, Farm scored 155 all out in 14.3 overs. Quazim Yusuf struck 39, Ameer Khan made 33 and Suraj Budhu 30. De Hoop were bowled out for 131 in 14.4 overs in response. Ajay Kishan had 2-5, Khan 2-12 and K. Ramsundar 2-30. Speedboat overcame Super Star by 49 runs. Speedboat took first strike and got to 159 before limiting Superstar for 110. In the Masters category, Savage went down to Amazon Warriors by 36 runs. Amazon Warriors batted first and posted 238-6 off their allotted overs. Sunil Ramesh slammed nine fours and three sixes in a top score of 78 while De Roop made 36 and Raymond Bisraj 26. Robin Sammy took 2-25 and Zameer Hassan 2-29. Troy Ramsaywak got Savage off to a flier as he took 34 off their first over bowled by Randy Perreira enroute to a top score of 55. His innings contained two fours and seven sixes. But when he departed, only Hubert Wright 31, Hassan 30 and Seeraj Bhimsain 26 showed fight as they were restricted to 202-7. Perreira came back to pick up three wickets, finishing with 3-70, while Ramesh Narine took 2-11.
