Interesting name...somewhat like the "women in black" who continue to protest in Chile and Argentina in the memory of lost sons and fathers who disappeared during the brutal dictatorships....

But if the crime was committed several years ago, why not petition the current government of the day to help them get justice....why the previous government..?

OR...and I mean no disrespect to the mourners...is there politics at play?...

Lets not forget there was a 28 years of dictatorship people seem to forget about?

It is totally politics at play. They should have been advocating the current since 2015 for the 'justice' they seek. Chances are, since this protest look so empty, it must be one more of that fool, Williams' idea.

It seems that this is the senior officer who was recently accused of corruption by some junior officers. It also seems that he is indeed 'Granger's boy' as he is still on the job committing further corrupted acts. Until Granger does something about this officer, he is in effect being complicit.  Maybe this is why those fools above are petitioning Jagdeo for justice instead.

"The President's boy"

As you are aware by now Melly Mel who has made it her mandate to highlight the wrongs executed by a private health institution in Guyana by publishing personal stories sent by persons accross the country, most females, was detained for over 12 hours by police at CID Headquarters, Georgetown and practically harrassed.

It is also public knowledge now that after her release Melly Mel confirmed with several media outlets including the Stabroek News and Guyana Chronicle that instructions were given directly by the Crime Chief Lyndon Alves to keep her in custody over night and not be placed on bail.

"The Scoop" finds this alarming development as a means of surpressing free speech in what was thought to be a democratic country that allows freedom of speech.

However, what is even more worrying is the fact that this senior officer is once again misusing his power vested to him by the David Granger administration.

Let's take it back to the year 2017.

Four year old Ramkarran Mohan of Tuschen Village, East Bank Essequibo was struck down and dragged under the wheels of a reckless driver, to his death.

The connection?

The driver of that car was the DAUGHTER OF THE CRIME CHIEF LYNDON ALVES. She was identified as Grace Alves. He was an Assistant Commissioner when that accident occured but had used his influence to intervene and help his daughter while the relatives of the toddlers struggled for justice.

His daughter was detained after the accident but was released the very day on a meagre $20,000 bail. Months had passed, relatives protested that they feared justice would not be served since the driver had major link in the Guyana Police Force. An inquest was ordered months later and the then Commander of D division had said that a coroner had to be sought.

The matter died down and it is now 2019.

COMPARISON

The Crime Chief personally gave instructions to have Melly Mell detained and denied bail but readily had his daughter who KILLED A CHILD DUE TO HER RECKLESS DRIVING released on only $20,000 station bail. She is roaming freely to this day as he sits at the helm of the force.

The Scoop read in a Stabroek News article that he boasted "I am the President's boy".

Well, THE COUNTRY IS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING WHETHER THE PRESIDENT CONDONES INJUSTICE AND ABUSE OF POWER.

LET US NOT FORGET THE MANY OTHER ALLEGATIONS OF CORRUPT PRACTICES EXECUTED BY THIS VERY MAN PUBLISHED BY THE MEDIA RECENTLY

A CHILD IS DEAD, A KILLER IS FREE, A ACTIVIST WAS HARRASSED AND A CRIME CHIEF IS POWER DRUNK.

Hardcore racist anti-koolie haters have done incredible damage to the East Indian people of Guyana but these deep hardcore racists are so barefaced they paint themselves as victims of koolie. The only solution is complete separation.

Allegations of unlawful activity by police in Berbice… PPP calls for wider probe

The Opposition is calling for a wider probe into a number of damning allegations of police corruption in Berbice.
The call would come hours after another shocking story in which whistleblowing ranks claimed that a drug dealer paid a rank $1.4M as an advance to kill Berbice’s top cop. The rank’s phone number was said to be among a number of policemen whose phone records were recovered from the cellphone of a slain bandit. The dead bandit and two other gang members were killed weeks ago during a police operation in Black Bush Polder, Corentyne.
Yesterday, the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), in a strongly worded statement said that despite repeated calls for President David Granger to act on the continued reports about corruption in a section of the Guyana Police Force (GPF), there continues to be silence.
The Opposition pointed to one headline – ‘Alleged police corruption fingers Deputy Commissioners; President briefed on developments’ – which disclosed that the President has been briefed on the matter – “which makes his silence perplexing,” the PPP said.
“The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) also notes the press statement of June 21, 2019 issued by the Guyana Police Force’s Public Relations Office, which states that: “The matter is currently being investigated by its internal organ, the Office of Professional Responsibility.””
According to the party, it wishes to stress that the reports by whistleblowers, published by the local media corps, provide enough justification for a wider probe to be ordered, particularly since what is at stake is public confidence in the leadership of the force and a test of the commitment to address the issue of corruption.
The PPP said that the latest allegations, which outlined a plot by a rank to kill another, make clear the gravity of the issue at hand.
“Earlier reports that refer to “corrupt” top officers as the “President’s boy” also send worrying signals to the Guyanese people. President Granger can be nothing but complicit via his inaction and silence.”
Whistleblowing cops told stories of cooperating cops who consort and hang with criminals and even pass information to them. They made allegations of bribes being paid to duck evidence and even for tips when police are on operations. There were other allegations of police ranks escorting drug shipments and even being made to pay superior officers a monthly fee by collecting kickbacks from traffic offenders.
A very senior officer from the city is said to be the main man directing the corrupt operations in Berbice.

Crum Ewing was killed by the PNC to get votes.
These idiots should protest in front of Congress Place. Ewing was the PNC sacrificial lamb.
