REO’s son killed in Berbice smash-up

Donald Ambedkar, the son of Region Five Regional Executive Officer Ashford Ambedkar, died Wednesday night after the car he was driving collided with a truck on the D’ Edward Village Public Road, West Coast Berbice.
Sookdeo Sahadeo, a passenger in Ambedkar’s vehicle, and of Bath, West Coast Berbice, is in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Ambedkar, a father of three, was employed as an engineer at Plan B Construction Company, located on the East Bank of Demerara.
According to reports, Ambedkar was driving at a fast rate at around 21.00 hrs on Wednesday when he lost control and slammed into a Canter truck.
He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival. Sahadeo, the passenger, was first taken to the Fort Wellington Hospital before being transferred to the GPHC.
Ambedkar’s body is at the Fort Wellington Hospital Mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem examination.
