Results out for Children’s Costume and Float parade - Region Three takes regional prize

The much anticipated Children’s Costume and Float parade, which was held on February 14, attracted thousands of patrons, who lined the streets of Georgetown, to have a glimpse of the colorful costume bands, and the young participants as they traversed through the city, and ending at the National Park, where they were judged on creativity and performance.

 

The parade accommodated over 48 bands, with each portraying a theme, which depicted its particular Mash band identity.

Emerging first, among the Nursery bands, was Happy Hearts Nursery, with the theme “Rhythms of our people”, while Head Start Nursery copped second, with its costume float depicting “Celebrating Love and Unity for Mash 2015” which left Smyth Street Nursery with third, for the item “Royal Invasion.” 

 

Hinterland Scholarship Division copped first with “A Cultural Melting Pot”

 

In the Primary School bands category, after an energetic performance, Tucville Primary was awarded first position.  “A Fusion of Colours in the Sun”, North Georgetown Secondary’s costume copped second spot, while West Ruimveldt Secondary was given third for “Pan jam.”

After a splendid performance, Cummings Lodge Secondary emerged first with “Educating and celebrating our Culture through a Fusion of Music”, while St. John’s College was given second for its costume of “Vat Attack” and South Ruimveldt Secondary was awarded third, for “Guardian of the Underworld”.

 

Craft Production and Design got third with “Celebrating our Cultural and Creative Skills at Mash”

 

Meanwhile, in the Other Children’s Organisation segment of the competition, the Hinterland Scholarship Division was awarded first for its presentation of “A Cultural Melting Pot’. The National School of Dance copped second with “Rainbow of Love”, and the Craft Production and Design Unit was given third for “Creative Skills at Mash.”

 

Region Three with “Holiday Fusion” which earned it first position in the Regional aspect of the competition

 

Walking away with the first position in the Regional aspect of the competition was Region Three, with its theme “Holiday Fusion.” Emerging second was Region Seven with “One Strong and Proud” and after a splendid performance from Regions Four and Nine, they both were awarded third position.

 

The Mashramani Children’s Costume and Float Parade concluded the Children’s 2015 Mashramani activities.

Prior to the Children’s Float Parade, there were regional competitions, held in every region with students performing inn the Dramatic Poetry, Calypso, Dance and Masquerade. The final competition was held at the National Cultural Centre on February 12 to 13.
