I am unsure exactly where she is located ... but my parents told me she moved to RH.

Dude I'll be honest and tell you I have been in NYC since '74 but the first time I walked down Liberty ave in '99 it was a culture shock. I thought I was at bourda market. I was unaware there was such a great influx of guyanese in one location. Then when I went to use the ATM inside the Citibank bank on Liberty Ave it blew me away. I thought I was at Stabroek market.

Funny though my parents have lived in Queens Village since '78 and there is a greater influx of Guyanese there now than 30+ years ago. I think Richmond Hills became too overcrowded so Guyanese started branching out.

Mr Ed promised during the month of Ramadan to meet with us to donate to improve our community.

He was just making another false statement and it did not matter that it was done during the month of Ramadan.

He needs to looks at himself and do some more reflection.

During the last US Census he even REFUSED to provide access to the "Chateau Not So Royal".

But we have folks like Chief sing his songs of praise.....why?

The Chateau is no longer Chateau Royal. Is it under new ownership or did Ed just rename it?

Is Ed hiding his money by selling the building? Big Grin

Some blocks have a permeating smell of curry.

One time I went by a dude's house, this dude is a guyanese and a big time PPP banna. BIG TIME, I mean this dude has nuff PPP juice and goes back to the days of CBJ. Anyway I only spent three minutes in the crib as I went there to pick him up, but when he jumped in my ride .... his winter coat was totally curryized. The man stunk up my car with the curry odour from his his coat for a few days. I had to go out and buy an air freshner. Big Grin

Yes. I am aware of it. I was in belgium once and heard two obviously caribbean men talking, and was confused about why I thought I could understand them, but couldnt really. Like when Jamaicans put on a deep patwa, or you all Corentyne folks to our Georgetown ears.

They told me they were from Suriname and were speaking what they called "Surinam", which I guess is the "proper" name.

If you know pidgin English from West Africa you can decipher it. Its clearly an older version of creolese...more distant from standard english...I guess with Dutch thrown in (Kari's responses looked more Dutch...aside from the food that is...).

I must visit there as it seems an interesting country. They appear to be more aggressive than Guyana in attracting US visitors, despite tremendous difficulties, and expense, in getting there. I have seen numerous articles about Suriname in the NY Times....all positive too.

I admire the multi lingual capabilities of Surinamers and other Dutch Caribbean people.

steve,

you were not even at the event.

we had more than 100 at the event and much more food and drinks than needed.

Just for your "poison injection", you can contact

Nala Singham
Lake Persaud
Jas Persaud
Dr Dhanpaul
Lakshmee Singh
Dave Narine
Randy Persaud

These were some of the media and public relations personnel present.

I guess you had to comment as you were not invited

Reading the above list of attendees it leaves me to wonder where is the diversity of our Guyanese people.

So where is the diversity? You published a few Guyanese names only.
Richmondhill consists of many many ethnic bussiness people including Hispanics.
Chief
you obviously have not observed the changes of the Businesses along Liberty Avenue.

Thanks for your response. Are those people mentioned do anything for the community.

Most of them are from the media, and came to "cover" the event and get some free food.

Randy is a PPP stooge

Dave Narine is the only businessman.

The business people stayed away because you listed the event as a party and then you asked people to donate to the event. This sounded like a scam, a la Ed Ahmad.

I heard Ed gave a donation, and the ez jet guy don't want to be associated with you as he said "that jerk"

Please come clean to the community. If you are a 501(c)3 organization, publish you financial on this site. Be transparent for once in your life.

This escapist attitude will get you in trouble. Word after the event is that another Ed Ahmad is in the making.

A so called "gala" turns into a fundraising event, even though the sponsors paid for the event.

Richmond Hill BEWARE. Where is this money going?

It is actually Sranan Tongo ( Surinamean tongue) commonly referred to as Taki Taki, not talkie talktie. The Dutch referred to it as Nengre or negerengels ( negro english ) . It's a pidgin language , a fusion of english dutch portuguese and west african dialects . Slaves and indentures were not allowed to speak or learn dutch so all the slaves created and used this language as the common communication and latter indentures did so the masses could communicate.
