The two teams, part of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club have been mandated by the club to successfully complete 50 activities this year under the sub-headings of Sports, Education, Community Development, Religion, Anti-Drugs, Anti-Crime, Anti-Suicide and Coaching, among others.
The teams donated two trophies to the Port Mourant Secondary School for their annual fundraising cricket tournament while the organisers of the Ministry of Education Mash Sub-Committee also received a trophy.
The teams also made a financial contribution to the Organisers of a Religious Revival Outreach Programme. The Belvedere based New Start Play School received a donation of Guyana Flags and other materials to enable them to organise their Annual Mash Parade while the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association benefitted from a donation of Exercise Books, Pens, Pencils and Reading materials.
The Upper Corentyne Cricket Association will use the donated items to reward outstanding players in a Primary School Cricket competition. Twelve year-old Rohan Sundar of Belvedere also received a financial contribution towards purchase a bicycle which would enable him to ride to school.
Seven less fortunate families on request to the club also received groceries while three senior citizens received assistance for medical care and medication. Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that with cricket not being played in Berbice currently, the club is placing emphasis on completing its targeted off the field activities.
The club and its teams strongly believe in assisting others, “as the more you get, the more you would receive in blessings.” Special emphasis, Foster stated would be placed on assisting Senior Citizens and less fortunate families while the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association would continue to benefit from the assistance of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club because they are known to be hard workers.
The Rose Hall Town Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 team is led by Kelvin Sinclair while the First Division team is led by former National Under-19 Captain Shawn Pereira with National Player Clinton Pestano as his deputy.
The two teams would next week hand over a donation of anti-crime bumper stickers to ‘B’ Division of the Guyana Police Force while they are also preparing to host the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Annual Children Mash Parade, today.
The members of both teams include Clinton Pestano, Shawn Pereira, Eon Hooper, Shemaine Campbelle, Kevlon Anderson, Jason Sinclair, Junior Sinclair, Kelvin Sinclair, Jonathan Rampersaud, Chanderpaul Govindan, Sylus Tyndall, Royston Crandon, Assad Fudadin, Keon Sinclair and Nicholas Lawson among others.
