RHTY&SC Cricket Teams and DTV-8 host 10th Annual Mother of The Year Awards

Three outstanding young mothers last Saturday, were honoured as Region 6’s Mothers of The Years when the cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth and sports Club MS and Dave’s Television Station (DTV-8) held their 10th annual Mothers of The Year Award.
The mothers honoured were Tessie Amanda Ramnauth, Jenette Dulbin and Shazeeda Mohamed Ali.
Each of the mothers received a Special Mother’s Day gift, a framed certificate and trophy from the organisers.
RHTY&SC Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that since 2008, the two organisations have hosted the programme in recognition of mothers who have worked beyond the call of duty to make a positive difference in the life of their children. Youths across Region 6 were invited via Television Advertisements on DTV-8 to submit a 300-word essay on the topic β€œWhy My Mother Is a Role Model To Me.” Dozens of essays were received by the organisers and the top three winners were chosen by a panel of judges headed by veteran journalist Gregory Rambarran.
Foster, at the presentation ceremony hailed the role of mothers across Region 6 in shaping the lives of their children and stated that many mothers are fulfilling their role in single parent households without the support of fathers. The veteran club official urged the mothers to be best role model to their children and to make sure that they fulfill their potentials in education and sports.
Noting that youths in Berbice are affected by drug abuse, teen pregnancy, school dropout, pre-marital sex, suicide and alcohol abuse.
Foster urged parents in Berbice to keep an eye on the activities of youths and he also urged parents across Berbice to get their children involved in sports and religious activities.
The RHTY&SC he disclosed would continue to honour the role of mothers in the lives of children as long as the club exists.
Foster also stated that over 100 mothers were honoured on Mother’s Day with food hampers.
Three senior mothers were also honoured on May 1st during the RHTY&SC monthly pensioner programme at the Rose Hall Town Post Office.
Next month, a hundred fathers would be honoured under the Walter Nero Memorial Tribute to Fathers Programme.
The RHTY&SC CEO stated that he was pleased to walk along with DTV-8 a longtime associate and friend.
Managing Director of DTV-8, Anita Rambarran, stated, that her station is committed to the annual programme as part of its corporate responsibility. She also stated that working along with the National Awardee Club is always a privilege and noted that DTV-8 and the RHTY&SC enjoyed a highly successful relationship for close to 20 years. She urged the mothers to upkeep their high standards as parents.
All three of the mothers expressed gratitude to the RHTY&SC and DTV-8 for making their 2017 Mother’s Day a special one for them.
The eight cricket teams of the RHTY&SC, MS who organised the event are the Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Females and Gizmos and Gadgets Under-21 and First Division.
