RHTY&SC Cricket Teams and O-35 Group continue to make positive difference

The eight cricket teams and the Over-35 Group of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, continue to make a positive difference in the lives of residents in Berbice. The teams and the Over-35 Group made donations to the St. Joseph Anglican Church, Sitawattie Ramcharran of West Coast, Berbice, Xavier Henry of Edinburgh, East Bank, Berbice and the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School.
The St. Joseph Anglican Church received an electric music box to assist in its worship, while handicap senior citizen Sitawattie Ramcharran collected a wheel chair to assist her to move around in her home. Ten years old Xavier Henry received financial donation to assist him to fulfill his ambition of obtaining a black belt in Karate, while the Sport Department of the J.C. Chandisingh Secondary School received a donation of trophies, medals and a box of cricket balls towards the hosting of a fundraising cricket tournament for the school.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that for 2017, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club has already assisted over 700 individuals, NGOs, Youth and Sports Club, Churches and schools with close to $6M worth of trophies, medals, educational materials, clothing, sport gears, food items among others. Foster stated that the main objective of the outreach programme is to make a positive difference in the lives of others and to assist groups to fulfill their mandate to serve people in their areas.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Foster proudly states is the only sports organisation to assist others and disclosed that the Club on a weekly basis receives a minimum of twelve requests from across Guyana and does its best to assist every one of them. The Club, he stated strongly believes in assisting others as the more you give, the more you receive. He cautioned the recipients to make sure that the donations are used for the intended purposes.
Foster also disclosed that during the month of July, the Club would be sharing out $2M worth of cycles, school bags and cricket balls, while close to $1M worth of exercise books would also be donated to the educational sector in Region 6.
Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Xavier Henry’s mother, Ruthel Henry, expressed gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club for its continued assistance to her son’s quest to become a top rated Karate expert. She wished the Club continued success in the future and urged its members to uphold the high standard they have set themselves.
