A number of Churches, Cricket Clubs and a Play School have benefitted from the outstanding work of Guyanaβs leading youth and sports organisation and its eight cricket teams.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, recently made donations to the Cathedral of God Church, St. Agnes Anglican Church of Skeldon, Tain Block Four Cricket Club, Child Friendly Play School, Tain Primary School, Bohemia Primary School, cyclist Sybone Fernandes, St. Joseph Anglican Church Summer School and several less fortunate families. The donations were made under the clubs βMake a Dream and Making a Positive Difference Programmesβ. Club Secretary Hilbert Foster stated that they are always willing to assist others once they prove to be honest, hardworking, since itβs their mandate to assist youths, the elderly and less fortunate. As one of Guyanaβs leading cricket clubs, and a five-time Cricket Club of the Year Awardee, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club seeks to assist others to meet its high standards on the field of play and at the same time promote the value of sports, education and culture. The Tain Cricket Club received a cricket bat, a box of cricket balls, three trophies and three cricket medals towards the hosting of a fundraising tournament, while the Cathedral of God Church based in No. 2 Village received a cricket bat, a pair of batting pads, complete set of stumps, cricket medals and two trophies towards the promotion of the game in Canje. The St. Agnes Anglican Church received a donation of two trophies and a collection of special gifts for an upcoming Day of Sports, while the Port Mourant based St. Joseph Anglican Church Summer Classes received a financial donation towards providing snacks for students. A Financial donation was also made to veteran Berbice Cyclist Sybone Fernandes to assist him to obtain new tyres for his cycle. The Tain Primary School and the Bohemia Primary School both received three trophies each for their graduation ceremonies, while the Child Friendly School of Belvedere received a donation of items worth $150,000 to assist them to provide care for children from less fortunate families. The donation included an over head fan, children footwear, toys, cleaning detergent, certificate frames, trophies and special gifts. Club Secretary/CEO, Foster urged the different organisations to use the donations for its intended purposes and stated that despite great odds, the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club continues to make a positive difference. Meanwhile, the eight teams and the Over-35 Group on Monday July, 3, provided breakfast and snacks to over 300 senior citizens under their monthly pensioners programme. The Club on the first working day of each month provides breakfast to the senior citizens as they await to uplift their old age pension at the Rose Hall Town Post Office.
