βEach one of you has made us proud and as a Club we want you to know that we are proud to have you as a member of the best youth and sports organisation that Guyana has ever had. As a Club, we want you to be the best role model to every one of your younger Club Members.β Those were the words of Secretary/CEO of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, Hilbert Foster as he addressed Club Members who played for Guyana in 2017 at the junior and female level. Fourteen National Players along with Berbice Under-19 spinner Keith Simpson were honoured for making the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club proud. Foster in brief remarks stated that the first players to represent Berbice from the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club were Neil Williams and Ingram Dey in 1994, while Williams was the first National Player in 1995. Since then a total of sixteen national seniors, 54 national juniors and a total of 101 have represented Berbice at all levels. Five Club Members have also represented the West Indies at different levels and Foster disclosed that 89% of those players have been direct products of the RHTY&SC Cricket Development Programme. The Under-12 team would feed the rest of the Clubβs nine cricket teams with players who are properly prepared to represent the RHTY&SC on and off the cricket field. Foster noted that the success of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Cricket Development Programme has been due to the support of its official cricket sponsors β Poonaiβs Pharmacy, Farfan & Mendes Ltd, Bakewell, Metro, DDL Pepsi and Gizmos & Gadgets. The National Players honoured were Shemaine Campbelle, Erva Giddings, Rushanna Lynch, Aleema Arokium, Melanie Henry, Plaffiana Millington, Uma Matadin, Miriam Samaroo, Shakati Gajnabi, Sheneeta Grimmond, Kevlon Anderson, Junior Sinclair, Sylus Tyndall and Kevin Sinclair. Vice President Mark Papannah assured the fourteen members that the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club would continue to invest heavily into their careers and would work every day to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Papannah urged the players to remain focused and disciplined and told them they should be proud to be a member of the only Club in Guyana to have ever won a National Award. Female Captain and West Indies Player Shemaine Campbelle expressed gratitude to the Management of the Club and Ansa Mcal for honouring them and pledged that they would work harder to maintain the status of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS. Special thanks was expressed to Ms. Beverly Harper, Troy Cadogan and Robert Hiscock of Ansa Mcal.
