RHTY&SC Teams, Namilco donate Exercise books to Football Academy, Orphanage

The National Milling Company (Namilco) massive investment into the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, Say No/Say Yes Programme continues to make an impact on youths in the ancient county of Berbice.

The eight cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Ms, on Thursday last donated a large quantity of Namilco Say No to Suicide Exercise books to the Heart of Oak Masters Football Club 2017 Academy and the Camal Children Orphanage of Kilcoy, Albion.
The Football Academy is organised on an annual basis by Football Coach Neil Humphrey and the Heart of Oaks Football Club with the main aim of teaching dozens of youths how to play the game of football and to understand the importance of being a sport ambassador/role model. The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, and its eight cricket teams over the years have assisted the Football Academy. A delegation from the Club including Vice President Mark Papannah, Asst Secretary Simon Naidu, Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster, Under-15 Captain Jonathan Rampersaud and junior cricketer Reyad Rahaman visited the Camal Orphanage and presented the exercise books to representatives.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster noted that the RHTY&SC places a lot of emphasis on education because it is the foundation to a successful future. Namilco’s investment, he stated is very significant because it is one of the largest investments ever made by a private sector company into the Berbice’s educational sector. The exercise books, the 2009 National Sports Awardee stated, would not only be used in the classroom but as a platform to advise youths to Say Not Suicide, Drugs, Alcohol, Crime and Yes to Life, Education, Sports and Religion. Every day that students use the exercise books they would see slogans like “Crime does not pay”. “Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem”, “Education is the Key to Success” and “Have faith in the god you serve”. Students would also partake in a competition to unscramble words to discover keys to living well and healthy. Foster hailed the Management of Namilco, especially Bert Sukhai, Fitzroy McLeod and Affeeze Khan for the donation of the 13,000 exercise books, while he described it as a massive investment into Guyana future.
On behalf of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, and the eight cricket teams and Over-35 Group, the Club Secretary/CEO pledged to assist the Children Home with toys for Christmas, to host the Children at the 3rd annual Christmas Village in December and to organise a visit to the Upper Corentyne Area for the twenty four orphans.
The majority of the exercise books would be donated to thirty Secondary and Primary Schools across Region 6, while the remainder would be used at the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Say No/Say Yes Programmes. Among the schools are the Lower Corentyne Secondary School, J.C. Chandisingh Secondary, New Amsterdam Secondary, Berbice High School, Rose Hall Town Primary, Belvedere Primary and Cropper Primary.
The eight cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, are the Farfan & Mendes Ltd Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Female and Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division.
