The eight cricket teams of Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS, over the next two months would be heavily involved in several Community Projects. The projects would be constructed under the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Patron’s and Community Development Programme. The teams would also be involved in the distribution of almost $3M worth of bicycles, school bags, exercise books and cricket balls to less fortunate students and cricket clubs across the ancient county of Berbice.
The teams are currently involved in the construction of a $150,000 (one hundred and fifty thousand dollars) concrete scoreboard at the Area “H” Ground and would shortly start the construction of a concrete bridge at the Southern end of Beharry Street in Rose Hall Town.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club is also currently awaiting permission from the Mayor and Town Council of Rose Hall Town to construct a small monument in observance of the purchase of Rose Hall Village in 1842 by 57 (fifty seven) free slaves. As part of the 175th Anniversary the cricket teams are also awaiting the Town Council’s permission to do some work around the Rose Hall Monument at the Arch Square.
Club Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster stated that the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club would be spearheading the 175th Anniversary Celebration and once completed, the Community projects would be handed over to the Mayor and Town Council.
The eight teams would also be involved in the distribution of 20 cycles, 800 school bags, 20,000 exercise books and a large collection of cricket balls to less fortunate school children and cricket clubs across Berbice on the 21st July at the St. Francis Community Developers Training Centre.
The distribution to be made under the Patron’s Fund would be done as part of the Club’s celebration of its Patron’s 72nd Birthday and also as part of a Berbice wide effort to promote the Say Yes to Education and Sports Messages.
Speaker of the National Assembly Dr. Barton Scotland would deliver the Feature Address at the event which would also feature the Graduation Ceremony for the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club 27th Annual Cricket Academy and Presentation Ceremony of the 5th Annual Gregory Gaskin Berbice Memorial Sports Awards and the Ansa Mcal Award of Excellence.
The RHTY&SC would also be unveiling a new programme “Tribute to the Berbice Top Ten”. Under this programme, the Club would be honouring the top ten Berbice students at the 2017 Grade Six Examination. They would each receive a trophy, medal, framed certificate and a collection of educational materials for the new school term in September.
Foster hailed the RHTY&SC as a remarkable organisation which on a daily basis touches the lives of youths, the elderly and less fortunate.
The eight cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, Ms, are Farfan and Mendes Under-15, Bakewell Under-17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under-19 and Intermediate, Metro Female and Gizmos & Gadgets Under-21 and First Division.
