You can come from a friendly country and has tied to money laundering, extortion, trafficking in person and a host of other violations that may cause you to delay at airports. Immigration cannot do magic to process you in ten minutes. Many Immigration officers have to call their superior and verify certain facts before making a decision, and it takes time. You must understand that with many incoming flight, one after another can cause problems to process thousands of passengers within a certain hour.
