Assistant Police Commissioner, Brian Joseph

Assistant Police Commissioner, Brian Joseph

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Assistant Police Commissioner, Brian Joseph has been named as the person who will head the Presidential Guard Service replacing Rohan Singh.

iNews has been informed that during a meeting with the Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud, the David Granger Administration indicated that it wishes to have the present ‘B’ Division Commander appointed to the post.

The environment would be nothing new for Joseph who in the past protected Presidents Forbes Burnham, Desmond Hoyte and Dr Cheddi Jagan.

The police or the Office of the President is expected to make a formal pronouncement of the change following a high level meeting today.

With Joseph taking up that position, it is expected that the police force will be looking for another senior police officer to take up the leadership of ‘B’ Division and act as the Commander there.

From the start, way back in 1992, Rohan Singh was a square peg in a round hole. He was my comrade and he had no police experience, not even bodyguard experience with Cheddi Jagan. He was head of the PYO and became Manager of Freedom House just a few months before the election, succeeding Mike Persaud. What credentials informed the decision to name Rohan Singh as Head of the Presidential Guards I don't know.

Nah. At that time he was a cool guy, a simple guy from D'Edward Village.

Old man Ramson was a strong Burnhamite.  I would see him walking on the seawall and speak to him. The man was a solid PNC and would tell me about the greatness of the PNC.  Chuck Sr and Junior may have not listened to him.
