Watch out APNU,
AFC is gaining ground-
PPP General Secretary warns
Do not mek Bisram de Fraudster fool you...
General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), Clement Rohee has warned the main opposition force
– A Partnership for National Unity (APNU)—to “look out” because the Alliance For Change (AFC) may very well steal some of its supporters. Rohee sent this warning to APNU via the media yesterday when he hosted the PPP’s weekly press conference at Freedom House. Rohee told the media that AFC may very well take APNU’s place in the National Assembly if the coalition is not careful. But when asked if his party’s work on the ground indicated that the AFC is indeed gaining momentum, Rohee refused to comment. He said that, that is something “APNU needs to worry about”. He suggested that the AFC may not have come anyway close to gaining the support that APNU has been able to secure. Asked why then he made earlier statements, Rohee said “I can say a lot of things.” Further questioned as to whether his pronouncement was reflective of a fear for the opposition at the upcoming elections, the General Secretary responded, “I can say anything, I can say lots but it all depends on how you interpret it…read my lips… “APNU better watch out. Today I read an article with (APNU Member of Parliament Carl) Greenidge speaking highly of Ramjattan.” “Something is rotten in the Kingdom of Denmark.” He described the AFC as a “force ripe” political party that “love big-ing up itself,” Rohee said. APNU “better look out because AFC is coming knockout.” He said that the AFC is targeting APNU supporters just as it targeted PPP supporters at the 2011 elections. “The last time they targeted our (PPP) supporters but they now realize that they (PPP supporters) are now coming back home.” Rohee said that the AFC understands that there is a high level of dissatisfaction among those residing in areas that are deemed APNU strongholds. The politician identified Linden as one such place and said that the AFC is “seeking to cash-in” in those areas and “take advantage of the difficulties (APNU Leader David) Granger is experiencing in his leadership.” Rohee, however, said that his Party is not afraid of the momentum that the AFC is gaining. Even though the Party has been spending a lot of time and resources discrediting the AFC, Rohee said that he is assured that the PPP will not be fettered by the AFC. He added that neither AFC nor APNU has faced the hard times like the PPP has. The General Secretary said that the PPP is a” battled hardened party… we are tough and ready.”
