CHUTNEY artiste Nermal Gosein, better known as Massive Gosein, has come under fire for his latest song which takes aim at Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
The song is deliberately titled “Rowlee Mudda Count” and the video features a character with what appears to be darkened skin make-up portraying Rowley's “mother”.
The People's National Movement (PNM) Women's League yesterday condemned the song as a “massive fail” and is calling for the public to boycott all events associated with the song.
In a statement yesterday, PNM Women's League chairman Camille Robinson-Regis described the song as obscene.

Massive Gosine defends "obscene" song
Chutney singer Nermal "Massive" Gosine says the People's National Movement (PNM) Women's League is being hypocritical by condemning his latest song, when the League failed to condemn offensive remarks made by PNM leader and Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
Gosine received a reprimand from Chairman of the Women's League Camille Robinson-Regis over the "obscene" song titled "Rowlee Mudda Count".
Robinson-Regis said the song was not only degrading to women but the video, which featured a woman in blackface, was a racist depiction of the PM's mother. She called for a boycott of all events associated with the song.
However, in a statement, Gosine said the objections were amusing and only helped to make his song more popular.
The video for the song gained more than 8,000 views on YouTube in the last 24 hours.
"I thank them for helping me to publicise my song as I have in fact received several more bookings for performances and thousands more hits on you-tube as a result of their intervention," Gosine said.
He defended the song saying double entendre is a well-established tool in the calypso artform that the PNM never objected to before.
"Robinson Regis did not object to “Oma Account Big” – Rootsman, “Paul yuh mudda come”- Crazy and “Yuh mudda can’t” – Sprangalang," he stated.
He referred to controversial comments made by Rowley in recent months saying Robinson-Regis had not shown any concern when Rowley told women to choose their men wisely, compared women to a golf course that needs grooming and referred to Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar with the term "jammettry" and the statement "she could bark at meh dog, I goh ignore she cyat."
Gosine further slammed Robinson-Regis' silence on "racist" songs sung by calypsonians Cro Cro and Sugar Aloes.
A defiant Gosine said calypsonians seem to be reluctant to criticize Rowley and the PNM though there were many calypsos criticizing Persad-Bissessar as well as former PM Basdeo Panday.
"We must be able to call a spade a spade as the naked and raw reality is there for all to see."
He said he makes no apology for the song nor the props in his video.

Al Creighton of UG summed it up in one of his missive. The RACIST Calypsonians sang praises for the PNC when they were in Govt and slammed the opposition PPP and the Jagans. When the PPP got in Govt, the same RACIST calypsonians started praising the opposition and slammed the PPP Govt. from 1992 to 2015.
