USA and Israel do not know where the Russian S-300 are located, I believe that the missile fired by Israel was an attempt to get Syria to disclose the area where the Russain S 300 are located. No big deal as yet.

The Israelis wanted the Russians to know what they're up to and what they're capable of doing. Do you think that the two rockets they fired were to ferret out information about the S-300s? They already have that intel.
