Finance Ministry official's daughter dies
after vehicle plunges into creek in Rupununi

The body of Vimala Balgobin being placed in a Georgetown-bound plane at Lethem.
The daughter of a top Finance Ministry official was killed Sunday afternoon when the vehicle she and her husband were in ran off a bridge into the Pirara Creek.
Her husband, who was driving the vehicle at the time of the mishap, was injured and he was flown to the city for additional medical treatment at a city hospital.
The dead woman has been identified as Vimala Balgobin, daughter of the Ministry of Finance official, Tarachand Balgobin.
The incident occurred about 1 PM while they were returning to Lethem from the North Rupununi. Investigators said the speeding vehicle toppled and ended up in the Pirara Creek.
Vimalaβs body was flown to the city late Sunday.
