Samuel Hinds Jr jailed for two months on wounding charge, gets bail
Samuel Hinds Jr. was today placed on $50,000 bail pending the appeal of the two-month sentence handed down by Magistrate Annette Singh for the charge of wounding his sister-in-law.
Hinds Jr was in addition fined $10,000 for the abusive behaviour charge.
The accused, son of former Prime Minister Samuel Hinds, was found guilty by Magistrate Geeta Chandan-Edmond last year of threatening and wounding his sister-in-law Tenza Lane. Months were then taken up in legal deliberations over whether another magistrate could impose sentence on Hinds Jr. Magistrate Singh finally imposed sentence today.
