Sattaur and close to 20 other GRA officers sent on accumulated leave
Minister of Finance Winston Jordan, confirmed the move to News Source this afternoon and said a decision was taken to allow the persons to take up the leave that is owed to them. He said the Authority cannot allow leave to be building up for its officers.
The Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority, Khurshid Sattaur and at least 20 other GRA officers have been asked to proceed on accumulative leave that is owed to them.
Mr. Sattaur has proceeded on three weeks leave while the other officers have proceeded on leave for various lengths of time.

According to the Finance Minister, some officers were owed as much as 300 days leave. He said several others are owed over 100 days.
βThese folks are not the President who might just allow leave to keep building up and building up. They need to take their leave and come back refreshed and renewed. We cannot keep allowing people to just not take their leaveβ.
Mr. Jordan was clear to point out that the move was not part of the restructuring that is in place for the Revenue body.
Just last week the GRA announced the shutting down of the Berbice Anti Smuggling Squad because of poor performance over the past three years. The work that was done by BASS will now be carried out by the Regional office of the GRA Enforcement unit.
