The 58-year-old woman claims her employer cut her arm off after she complained about her working conditions.
An Indian woman working as a maid in Saudi Arabia has allegedly had her arm cut off by her employer after complaining to police they were mistreating her.
Domestic worker Kasthuri Munirathinam, 58, was employed in a Saudi household for three months, where her sister S. Vijayakumari alleges they did not pay or feed her, CNN reports.
Ms Vijayakumari claims Ms Munirathinam had her right arm cut off by her employer after she went to the local police to complain about her working conditions.
The Indian government have made a complaint to Saudi authorities about the attack.
"We are aware of the plight of Ms. Kasthuri Munirathinam, a domestic help who has suffered serious injuries allegedly inflicted by her Saudi Arabian sponsor," Indian external affairs spokesman Vikas Swarup said.
The statement confirmed Ms Munirathinam is being treated in a Saudi hospital for her injuries.
The Indian government are also demanding Saudi Arabia charge the employer with attempted murder.
“Our Embassy in Riyadh has taken up the matter with the Saudi Foreign Office and asked for strict action in the matter and sever punishment for the sponsor,” Mr Swarup said.
“We will continue to seek justice for the victim.”
