In Guyana, a 17 year high school graduate was placed in an arranged marriage with man in his later 30s.

But the father had a logic to his daughter's marriage. Its better to have her marry an older man, than not have her marry at all, if she is attacked and raped.

Years later they seem to have good relationship, with two children.
