Many folks cannot understand depression and mental illness. However, the reason for my post is how can we assist and at what point can sane people intervene.

It seems he lives in a home where he is taken care of. He writes well but understanding what was written is the difficult part.

If my memory serves correctly he once stated that he is in the Bronx. I do not mind driving over to have a chat with the brother. I can probably get a trained medical person to accompany me.
