Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo arrives in Mexico City to attend the 2015 Open Government Partnership Summit.
Every two years representatives of government, academia, civil society, private sector and multilateral organizations meet at the Open Government Partnership Global Summit to exchange experiences, best practices and progress on open government initiatives.
This year Mexico will host the OGP Global Summit on October 27-29. This gathering of more than 1,500 practitioners will be a chance to share learning and continue working towards securing commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, fight corruption, and harness new technologies to ensure governmental decisions are guided by citizen's needs.
The 2015 OGP Global Summit will focus on sharing the progress and challenges of the open government agenda, and on how the principles of open government could support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Post-2015 Agenda. Additionally, the Summit will explore ways in which open government improves public service provision, responsiveness and participation mechanisms at the subnational level. [SOURCE: UNTEAMWORKS]

Today, we will begin a series of bilateral discussions with Mexican officials during which I will advance Guyana's case for markets for Rice, support for training in petroleum engineering and Spanish language courses, and Mexico's participation in the 50th independence anniversary celebrations next year.
