Several persons suspected to have been involved in robberies and drug trafficking were arrested and one gun and ammunition were seized during a police dragnet in the East Bank Demerara and Georgetown.
Police said in all nine persons were arrested for various alleged offences during the operation within the areas of Diamond and Providence, EBD; and Ruimveldt and Tucville, Georgetown.
Of the nine detainees, four men were arrested pending investigations into armed robberies; two men and two women were arrested for possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking; and one man was arrested after an unlicensed .32 Taurus Pistol along with two magazines and 25 matching rounds were found in his home.
He was also wanted for questioning pending investigations into another matter where a firearm was recovered at Ogle, East Coast Demerara.
Police said they are all in custody assisting with the investigations.
