The prime suspect in a recent armed robbery of a Corentyne family was early Wednesday morning arrested, police said.

Commander of the Berbic Division, Assistant Commissioner Paul Williams confirmed said the man was nabbed in the Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice area after police launched an intelligence-led operation and information regarding his location surfaced.

He is assisting with investigations.

Meanwhile, the taxi driver who was arrested near the scene of the robbery was Thursday slapped with two charges.

The man, 26-year-old Robindra Kumar,  appeared at the Springlands Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Robindranauth Singh to answer to the charges of being in possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition and the unlawful possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.

He pleaded not guilty to both charges and was remanded until 27th August, 2017.

The arrest of the two men stemmed from a probe into an armed robbery by several men committed last Sarurday on 27-year old Satchin Ramrattan, his pregnant wife, 26-year-old Vidya Gopaul and their four-year-old son.

They managed to flee the bandits who nevertheless carted off GYD$1.7 million and jewellery from their home at Lot 179 No. 69 Village, Corentyne on Saturday last and carted off with over GYD$1.7 million in cash and gold jewellery.

This is the type of journalism that encourages the banditry. Why publish this kind of details. Crime pays. No?

Where did I mention black people?

Why does Django use the term "low lifers" when there is a coolie name involved.  I have never seen him refer to a niggro bandit as "low lifer". All bandits and criminals should be considered and labeled low lifers. Does Django still think that criminal niggroes are freedom fighters? Does he still consider Fineman his hero? Shame on Django.

A criminal is a criminal is a criminal. Whether black or coolie, still a criminal. A close reading of Guyana news shows that peaceful black householders are subjected to burglary and armed robbery by black criminals nowadays. If coolie criminals are robbing peaceful coolies in their homes, it's simply because a criminal's mindset has no space for kith or kin. The objective is money, gold and other valuables.

Jagdeo has not yet been jailed for these atrocities that you claim. I condemn all criminals, blacks happen to be the majority of those committing violent crimes.

This defense can only be used in certain things, in particular political!  If BJ committed a crime like fraud, he cannot claim that defense.  Only the sitting president could grant a pardon!

So back to the drawing board!

What nonsense, I thought you were this educated person and would have a basic understand of law and order!  If they are now saying laws have to be changed to criminalize past activities, then BJ and the PPP are home free!!

You cannot retroactively apply and criminalize past conduct which was not criminal prior to the new law!

If they are doing so, and expect it would snare BJ and the ministers, then this PNC are real dunces!

How does working at NBS involved me in fraud? Are you accusing every current and former NBS employee of fraud?

Is rushing to rationalize the crimes in this thread your idea of condemnation? As you are well aware, it's a little difficult to jail a president or ex-president.

You are right as to Criminal Law if it so protected under Guyana Constitution. Under Civil Law, he might not be protected by the constitution since there might be possibilities forEx Post Facto laws to seize his properties.

Hope you had at enjoyable time at my Nephew's. Small world.

Clearly as a current or former NBS employee, you have displayed a bias towards management and view Arjoon's acts favorably. Maybe in your mind, fraud via fake power of attorney is an acceptable practice and requires no due diligence follow up.  When Arjoon was busted, his first instinct was to invent an incredulous story to implicate a sitting president. As it turns out his fraud was eventually rectified legally and the authorities returned the money to the victim.  You cannot claim that a person is guilty because " it's a little difficult to jail a president or ex-president"

Clearly, you have some unique ability to extrapolate much from little. Where is the clear bias towards management?

In which world, in which universe does the CEO or a financial institution personally vet powers of attorney? How is Arjoon guilty of power of attorney fraud?

Arjoon's story although incredulous to you in your haste to protect the Rat is based on fact. You, clearly, are unfamiliar with the issue. How is it that I cannot claim the Rat is guilty from ample evidence but you can accuse a man whose innocence has already been proven?

Arjoon benefited from controls not being in place at NBS. Today he would have been jailed for fraud. He got off with a slap on the wrist. Your personal familiarity with the matter does not qualify as an indictment of Jagdeo. I am interested in protecting him, but rather to ascertain the truth. So far all fingers point to the crooked Arjoon and those who support him in this power of attorney fraud.

Ex Facto Laws have happened before in Civil matters. It might be allowed under the current constitution, especially when it pertains to assets or state properties; Certainly not possible for Criminal matters.

Guyana laws are old.

How did Arjoon benefit? Details of the matter quite clearly points a finger at Jagdeo. What steps have you taken to ascertain the truth? You have not reviewed any of the material but accuses Arjoon in your pitiful attempt to exonerate the biggest Rat in Guyana. Is this your truth-ascertaining procedure?

He benefited by evading jail as per company policy there was no clear policies at the time regarding the vetting of bogus power of attorney.

I can only derive innocence or guilt based on media reports. So far no concrete evidence has been shown in the media to implicate Jagdeo. Only circumstantial evidence, from which a conclusion guilt is not possible.

To break down the matter, Arjoon got caught approving an illegal transfer of funds based on a bogus power of attorney.  He then makes a claim that he was setup by the ppp for his refusal to agree with investing in the Berbice bridge. No evidence was put forward to show what hand the PPP had in this fraudulent power of attorney or how they accomplished this. Yet you and other PPP detractors rushed to accept his word as fact.

The only fact we have so far is that a bogus power of attorney was used to steal money from a client and Arjoon approved the transaction.

Amazing. It has been proven beyond any doubt that there is no evidence of wrong-doing by the accused managers - FACT. Yet you accuse them of fraud. The man was threatened, then set-up, then dismissed by the PPP government, led by the Rat - FACT. Yet you accuse them of fraud. I assume you display such loyalty and adulation because of the PPP's and Jagdeo's sterling record of honesty and ethical behavior.

Are you aware that the forged power of attorney was produced by someone who was never prosecuted? Would you take your blinds off for a moment and ask why? Have you accepted yet that the CEO of a financial institution is not responsible for vetting powers of attorney?

And OJ was also found not guilty but lost the civil case.

In Arjoon's case, he got off from a legal perspective but was fired on moral turpitude.  They couldn't jail him(or you probably) from a legal perspective but they had enough evidence to fire him and take away his pension.

Mr. Arjoon was wrongfully dismissed as was proven DURING the Rat's reign. Nothing you say to vindicate the Rat's abuse of power and vindictiveness can change them. Why was the person who produced the power of attorney never prosecuted? Why was Arjoon, who was not involved in vetting the power of attorney, who actually raised a red flag for a missing document, targeted by the Rat with threats and dismissal? Do you even care about the abject corruption and criminal activities of the Rat's crime syndicate?
