PNU+AFC’s using state resources for electioneering – PPP says $30M spent so far on interior trips by 17 Ministers

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) is concerned about the use of state resources for electioneering purposes by various officials of the APNU+AFC government.

At a press conference on Thursday, General Secretary Clement Rohee said that 17 government ministers- and in a number of instances President David Granger- have been flying into Anna Regina and several interior locations such as Mabaruma, Bartica and Lethem, the cost of which is being borne by the state .

In the party’s estimation the cost of these trips is somewhere in the vicinity of GYD$30 million and the General Secretary said this type of spending amounts to an abuse as it is for electioneering.

“This is a blatant abuse of state resources to campaign at certain locations,” he said.
