Given that there has been no local govt election in 17 years that ought to be a priority. One cannot blame Hammie for Gtwn but then not give the city's residents a chance to remove him. Indeed more than a few of the local govts have now been taken over by interim management, certainly not selected by the electorate.

I think Local Govt elections are supposed to be held two years after the general/regional elections, but it was recently reported that the local govt elections would be held early 2012. Gecom should be able to use the same voters' list, so there should be very few problems. Local Govt elections are too long overdue.

1. Where is the burning and hooliganism apart from the police who acted on behalf of the PPP?

2. How will there be a snap election? The PPP lacks the votes to do so and the AFC and APNU willd efinitely block that as they lack the funds for another campaign.

Use your damn brains if you have any. The president can only call an election if he lose an no confidence vote.

yes the president can say "I have no confidence in my ability to govern" and then call a snap election to beg Guyanese to vote for him even after he as revealed that he has no confidence in his ability to govern.

Why else would have waste money by calling an election a few weeks after the nation just spent millions condicting one?

Who said that the Prez would be calling an election a few weeks after he won this. He can only call one if he is defeated. Which word you don't understand. he has formed his cabinet without consulting the opposition. he has formed a committee without consulting the opposition. Don't flatter yourself the President is here to stay. The opposition will soon be kissing his ass to implement their program..
