* Excellent! Well said!

* I am tired reading about losers on this board--Moses, Ramjattan, Granger, Nigel, Trotman, etc, etc

* It's time we all give praise to a genuine Guyanese stalwart---Shiv Chanderpaul.

* When Shiv finally retires he should be bestowed with the highest civilian award Guyana has to offer.

Read this folks:

I would do what I do, play cricket, even if nobody was willing to pay me for it. It is the one thing I am good at. It is the one thing I love doing all day every day." Shiv Chanderpaul

* That folks is what you call focus, dedication, commitment, perseverance---that is how you climb to the top of your profession and achieve great success.

* Go read that comment by Shiv again!

Former President Barath Jagdeo and the most experienced cricketer in the world today Shiv Chanderpaul are both from Unity Village Guyana.

CCH = Cacique Crown of Honor--Guyana's 3rd highest honor

* Guess AFC/PNC supporters refrain from praising the great man.

SIR EVERTON WEEKES PRAISES SHIV:

“Chanderpaul’s style is unique and quite different to that of most West Indians but he has done a magnificent job for West Indies cricket. I want to wish him all the very best in this historic match,” added Sir Everton, who played 48 Tests and averaged 58.61 runs per innings.

ROHAN KANHAI PRAISES SHIV

KANHAI ON SHIV:

“I first saw him playing years ago in Guyana and was always impressed. Back them he was a raw youngster with bundles of talent and immense concentration. He has blossomed to become one of the great cricketers of the world,” Kanhai said.

“He has a unique style of batting and it works well for him. He continues to show he has the great powers of concentration and likes to bat for long periods and the most important thing is he never gives his wicket away.

FORMER WEST INDIES OPENER DESMOND HAYNES PRAISES SHIV

Haynes, who played 116 Tests, praised Chanderpaul’s approach to his batting.

“When he first came into the West Indies team I was still around and I remember seeing a little boy and I was very impressed with his ability. He was someone who was driven and was determined to get better.

He came into Test cricket with a good attitude towards batting – always looking to bat long and play within his limitation and I was pleased with his progress,” said Haynes.

“A very memorable moment for him was when he batted with Brian Lara when he (Lara) broke Sir Garry Sobers’s record in Antigua.

Not many people remember the role Shiv played on that day but I will always recall how he stayed at the crease and did the perfect job.

“He (Chanderpaul) will be missed when he makes the decision to retire and we have to look at a succession plan for when Shiv goes.”

By the way, Shiv does not know the meaning of the word RETIREMENT.

Like Shiv turn Muslim. That is how we pray.

Shiv and one of my friends used to live near each other in FL. They used to take each other's kids to school. That is until he moved back to GT to train his son.

Shiv will get temple in Guyana too?

Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar might soon be worshipped in a temple planned in his name in Bihar state.

The shrine is being built by Manoj Tiwary, a local film star, and will be opened to the public early next year.

Many of his fans in India describe Tendulkar as the god of cricket.

On Tuesday, Mr Tiwary inaugurated the 5ft 6in (167cm) deity of Tendulkar amid prayers at the site of the proposed temple in Atraulia village in Bhabhua district in Bihar.

The idol of the star, sporting a blue jersey with the World Cup in his hand, is made of marble.

The 6000 sq ft (557 square metres) temple will cost seven million rupees

* They already named a road after Shiv.

* The Shiv Chanderpaul drive---leads to the President's office

* But you see that Lutheran church in the photo

* After Shiv passes Lara's 11,953 and becomes the highest scorer in WI's history---that church will be converted into a temple---the Shiv Mandir.
