If this is true then they deserve what they get.

There should be a law that if you don't go to vote, your driver's license will be suspended.  Park up dem Mercedes in the garage for a lil while.  That said, people should be given time off to go and vote.  Election day should be a half work day.

If them have to park them Benz how them gon get to the polls, yo is doan walk when yo is got wan Benz

Memories of 2001 when Trevor Rupnarine lost.

16 years later our Guyanese could have done better.

You will recall that I warned about not relying on Guyanese only.   Indo Guyanese aren't perceived as being willing to work with blacks.

Some one passed out a flyer on the other side of Van Wyck claiming that David had never worked with them and that his goal was to get more of "his buddies from the other side" to move in.  These claims may not be true but they play on the fears of the black Americans on the other side that David will take the seat and then only focus on Indians.

They turn out to vote. Indo Guyanese don't.  No point squealing about this fact.  It is what it is and when an Indo Guyanese goes over the Van Wyck LONG before he is running for office, and builds trust of the people then one might win.

The interesting thing is that he beat VMs candidate. I wonder what he is going to say now?

David is very young and will get another chance in 4 years. He needs to spend that time focusing on building bridges with the folks over there. He also needs to "man up" because black folks don't trust men who they think are too soft. Hell even the black female politicians are tough folks.  Look at Titus exposing her husband's "soft spot" to the world.

Well apparently they are already doing well so don't see that they need politicians so they don't vote.

Many of the folks on the other side are either civil servants or work for nonprofits which depend on public dollars, so have a vested interest in ensuring that one of their own wins. David apparently isn't one of their own, that is assuming that he loses, and apparently NY1 thinks that he will.

Most Indo Guyanese in that NY district need to do some internal soul searching. The did not turn out to support their countryman.

I listened to them talk politics at a wedding a few weeks ago in NYC.. Boy, they can take but that is all that they can do, talk.

They were too busy accumulating wealth and did not want to take a few hours off work to cast their votes.

Very Sad.

I rented a 2017 Jeep Sahara four door, sweeeeet. The two door is a rough ride, only good for off road. Probably renting it again for a Northern run before heading to New Brunswick in Oct.

My Benz staying with me until I croak.

As I said many weeks ago, folks on the other side of the Van Wyck does not seem willing to accept  anyone who they deem as an outsider. This keep happening, remember when Trevor ran in 2001.

The flyer that was circulated that Richard will only work with his people did not help as well.

The only way a Guyanese can win this district is to have more Guyanese to go out and vote especially when it is a 3 way race.

Here we go with the lies again.  The black Guyanese in South Jamaica and Rochdale came out if full support of Richard.  It was the Richmond Hill crowd that didn't vote.  And no, he will not get another chance in 4 years.  Adrienne is a strong candidate, she will galvanize her support base and no one will be able to beat her as an incumbent.  This was Richard's one chance and his own did not come out to bat for him.  Funny thing though, all of them came out to vote for Hillary last November as they thought Trump would take away their food stamps.  Well Trump is President and they still have their food stamps.

Vish pushed Hetti....maybe if he didn't, Richard would have won

I think Hetti helped Richard.  She took away some of Adrienne's votes.  If it was a two way race between Adrienne and Richard she would have won by a bigger margin.  Adrienne was the strongest candidate, but Richard had the numbers demographically.  However, the numbers did not come out to vote.  Politically, as a community we perform poorly because our priorities are not in order.  What does it tell you about people who are not registered to vote but they took the time to fill out that food stamp application?   We are a selfish people - unfortunately.

This is a hard pill to swallow.  Look at these numbers.  As a community, we can do better.  How many thousands of people live in Richmond Hill?  And our brother lost this race by 578 votes.  Shame on all of us!
