Dear Editor,
It is ironic that Obama is concerned about Russia’s interference in the elections when it is the same Obama Administration, through the US Embassy agents in Guyana, that interfered in Guyana’s May 2015 elections “to select” a winner. It is alleged that the US removed the de facto Indian PPP administration and replaced it with the African PNC led government. Ironically, PPP leaders supported Obama over Hilary Clinton in the 2008 Democrat nomination contest. The same Obama has removed the PPP leaders from office and replaced them with PNC leaders.
Yours truly,

The then US Acting Ambassador, Bryan Hunt, according to media reports, objected to recount of ballots in what was the closest democratic elections in Guyana’s history. Gecom which had agreed to a recount of ballots reversed course following Hunt’s objection to a recount. At a minimum, the PPP could have ended up with 33 seats in Parliament if a recount was done in Region 8 where the PPP lost by one vote with some 45 votes declared as spoilt – almost all in favour of PPP, according to observers and PPP counting agents.
Taking all of the above into considerations, seems like the USA and its flimsy democratic uphold, had a dose of their own bitter medicine shove down their throats, will see what they can do about it.
I doubt whether anything can be done now.
I seriously doubt the US had any role in it. The PPP and their corrupt and arrogant ways did them in. Their decrepitude to illustrate a difference will keep them out of office. I for one do not want those crooks to have their fingers on our oil.

This may be all true of the PPP about their arrogant and crooked ways. But it is not fair that the PPP should take ownership of this crookedness alone. We can say the same about the PNC.
However, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that there was foul play during the past election. And in any case, even if there was not, when the electoral race is that close, to satisfy the losing party, and to strengthen the democratic process, a recount is definitely in order. If not, it furher widens the race gap in Guyana. If a recount can be held in several states in the US, I see no reason why it could not be done in Guyana. The 2015 election had interference and foul play written all over it.
Guyanese stake out a position based on race and ethnicity, like many people on this board. However, anyone who does not believe that fat boy Brian Hunt and the Obama Administration had a hands off policy during the last election needs to have their heads carefully examined. The shenanigans of the PPP also tipped the hands of the US in favor of the opposition coalition.
Here is the other rub....hatred for the PPP is not a reason to oppose a party winning the election. The focus should be on the democratic process and how to strengthen the process to ensure that politicians do not get away with crookedness.

I meant to say that the US very much was involved in the Guyana election, via tacit support, financial support, etc

I never asked they take ownership. I ask they show a difference to recommend their authority to take office in the future. There is hardly any reshuffling of the deck and these are all men and women of profound arrogance and corrupt habits with little demonstrable capacity at problem solving. Guyana has been skating by too much on the pretensions of integrity and honor by bestial and corrupt men and women.
There was no demonstrable evidence of foul play. If the so called tainted records were allocated the the PPP in its entirety the still would have lose. Statistically they could not have won all of the minimum allocation per voting district ( 256) in every one of those disputed SOPs. If they felt they lost they should have taken it to court like they did with everything else.
As for widening the race gap etc the PPP were instrumental to that given they retained the corrupt constitution of the burnham era almost exactly as written. They have never voiced objections to its autocratic aspects that give us dictators we cannot remove. They now face exclusion in totality from power but still they do not sue for constitutional changes. These crooks hope they can get back in power by virtue of the Indian vote but I hope not. Maybe if they are out another term they will catch some sense and use constitutional change as central to their campaign platform.
The PPP leadership did everything to anger the Americans. Insulting the people Ambassador at their own function when you are an invited guest. You can't get dumber than that. Giving your enemies ammunition to fight you is the dumbest thing you can do.

Tell you what. In Jamaica they know election results by 10 PM of the SAME day. In Trinidad by early next morning. Way more ballots to count.
And don't chat nonsense about size because it isn't as if the results in Guyana are late because of the interior. Some of the last results arrive in some of the coastal regions, plus 90% of Guyana lives along one coastal road or the EBD/Linden road. Not scattered in many rural settlements in remote mountains as in Jamaica.
Guyana it takes ONE WEEK. Seriously if in that week various parties cannot uncover mistakes or fraud they deserve to be SHOT.
The only evidence of fraud was that the PPP was planning to stuff fake ballots and that trick didn't work because security measures were put in.
Vishmabir, who claims to be a dougla, but clearly has deep resentments about his black side thinks that re counting the ballots would have reduced the divide.
How so when the black and mixed population felt that the PPP was trying to rig the election and longed for emancipation from 23 years of an anti black government? They already had to wait for several days and endure several rumors.
It seems to me that reducing the racial gap is a good deal more complicated than just placating Indians, even though you, Chief and Kari think that the only votes which matter in Guyana are Indian ones.
USA is always in command of Guyana"s election, have you heard of the Carter Foundation, they go about to observe election and advise how to manipulate the vote so there is a regime change. Old man Carter left Guyana two days before the final vote counted. He thought there might be rioting , his excuse was he was ill, but the next day he was in Church delivering a sermon.
The drugs economy and money laundering spelled the end of the PPP.
One PPPite told me "dem (USA) get the drugs an we (Guyana) get the money, wha wrang wid dat.". I guess he got the answer now.

So based on your screams the 1992 election was rigged, because of US interference, and Hoyte should have continued to be president.
Because the most blatant involvement in Guyana elections was in 1992. The USA forced Hoyte to host elections and they set out to ensure that Hoyte didn't rig them by having observers all over the place.
Most assuredly if the Carter center was intimately involved in the election last year Jagdeo would have been howling and wailing about US interference and screaming for MadBURRO to protect him.
But all of this didn't happen until AFTER the elections when the PPP discovered that the opposition parties were aware of their plans to stuff fake ballots and ensured that these weren't counted.

Wikileaks said exactly that. SeveralUS ambassadors declared that the only person who they thought that they could speak about drug trafficking was Luncheon, who appeared somewhat concerned about this.
In their opinion the fastest way to get news to be passed onto the drug traffickers was to tell Jagdeo. He was involved with several of them.
