I returned from a very successful Grove public meeting only to get this very sad news. Mrs Holder was a true Guyanese heroine. She was kind and she was extremely intelligent. She took the fight to the Administration. This is a great loss for the AFC and more importantly a great loss for Guyana. Dear Sheila please put in a good word for us with one ONE who causes the universe to expand. The ONE who placed the matter to exist in the first place. Thank you.

I'm shock and truly at a loss for words. My deepest sympathies to her family and the AFC family. She fought for a better Guyana - one that is fair for all its citizens and free of corruption. May her soul rest in peace and that all that she has fought for, can be realized on the 28th on November.

Sheila Holder was a patriot who embodied the attributes of grace and service. She was a fierce fighter for a better and unified Guyana and worked tirelessly to promote "Change" in her dear Guyana.

She was an upstanding citizen and an uncompromised politician and words cannot express how much she will be missed in the party and in Guyana," a deeply saddened AFC leader Raphael Troman said.
AFC Presidential Candidate, Khemraj Ramjattan said "I extend on behalf of the Party my deep condolences to Noel and the family. This is the most distressing news we could have gotten about our dear sister and fellow leader. She was a beacon of inspiration for all of us in the party. sad news. The Holder family are very decent people. My sincere condolences goes out to Noel Holder and the rest of the family. Shiela is a very remarkable woman who fought for the people of Guyana.She knows what is right. Whoever, on this board who talks negative about Sheila, they are simply heartless. Sheila will blow good breeze, so that the AFC will deliver on November 28th. That was her wish.

I knew Sheila and children when I was in high school and they were always good people. She was always a fair-minded person and activist. My deepest condolences.

Sheila understood that there was more to life that the accumulation of wealth. She dedicated her life to building a more egalitarian society whilst nurturing a family. She was a role model for young Guyanese women.

Yesterday marks the death of AFC Stalwart......Sheila Holder, she has served her country well and we regret her passing.....putting politics aside....The Country mourns her death. She will be missed, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Goes to show you that the AFC is the PARTY OF TRUTH. When the AFC announced that she was withdrawing her candidacy or health reasons PPP soupies stated she was being forced out to make way for Trotman. Now you can see they were telling the TRUTH.

Mrs Holder will be greatly missed, as she has touched the lives of so many of us...however, it is in us that she will live on for a long, long time more. May she forever rest in peace, our sister, our mother...

WPO saddened by Holder’s passing

The PPP/C's Women’s Progressive Organisation said it is saddened to learn of the passing of Sheila Holder, a talented Guyanese woman, who has contributed to the development of Guyana in a variety of ways.

Holder, former Vice Chairman of the Alliance For Change is best known as an active advocate for consumer rights and protection, the WPO said.
"Her association with the AFC and her subsequent election to the National Assembly as a Member of Parliament brought her into public life in a much more pronounced way,” the PPP women’s group said.

According to the WPO, her presentations in the National Assembly were well researched and she was not afraid to take on any issue in the assembly. As a woman rights activist, she was very objective and was always willing to concede to a view, once presented with a convincing argument.

“Guyana has lost an exemplary daughter and her family has lost a great wife, mother, and grandmother. The WPO joins with all her friends, well wishers and all the people whose lives she has touched in extending heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved relatives,” the organisation said

Very sad indeed to know of the passing of Sheila Holder and especially that she did not live to go through the election.

Condolences to her family, friends and colleagues.

Guyana has lost a phenomenal daughter. The image of Hamilton Green assaulting her will remain with me forever. It is a pity that that she did not live to enjoy the full fruits of her labor. It's an even greater shame that she will be buried in NY. Her rightful final resting palce is the Place of the Seven Ponds.
