Biden really is too old and very tired. I am not sure he will be able to stay awake to do his job. I was watching a clip of him speaking with one of out tv person and he seems to first not grasp what she was asking him and when eventually he began speaking he was rambling rather than speaking. The Democrats had a lot of good candidates but just like the mistake the party made with Hillary Clinton suggesting she deserve to be the next President, they did it again in propelling Biden by suggesting that he deserve to be president. Public service is not about what the public servant deserves. It is what the public deserves and sadly the public deserved better than Biden.

Fact check: Altered video clip purports to show Joe Biden asleep on live TV

The claim: Joe Biden fell asleep during a television interview

A video circulating online purports to show Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden asleep while on live television.

The 30-second clip features a local news anchor attempting to wake up her guest and a chyron that reads "Live: On Air: Joe Biden: The Importance of This Election."

"Joining us live this morning from New York, hey good morning," the anchor remarks.

A split-screen then reveals footage of Biden with his eyes shut and the sound of snoring.

The anchor attempts to wake him, but snoring sounds continue until she concludes, "OK, I'll tell you what. He's meditating, he's taking a little nap."

The video was posted to Facebook by numerous users, and shared on Twitter by White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Dan Scavino.

Video was altered, and its creator called it a 'parody'

The social media user Damon Imani confirmed to USA TODAY that he created the altered video, which he called a "parody."

He detailed the process of constructing the video in a reply on Twitter.

"The Biden footage used in this video, was him taking a nap during a live stream with Hillary Clinton," Imani wrote. "And the news lady had guest on who also took a nap on live TV. I just mixed them."

The footage of Biden is from a Women's Town Hall on COVID-19 in April 2020.

While former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke about the impact of coronavirus on women, Biden turned his gaze downward for about 15 seconds before looking up and nodding.

The footage of the news anchor is from an interview with actor and singer Harry Belafonte in October 2011.

"This is your wake up call, Harry," the anchor can be heard remarking in the doctored clip.

John Dabkovich — current anchor on CBS Sacramento and one of the other anchors in the clip â€” called out the altered video on Twitter.

"This is fake. You know how I know? I was the co-anchor in studio. We were interviewing Harry Belafonte," he wrote.

(At the time, a spokesperson for Belafonte told USA TODAY that Belafonte had been unable to hear the feed from the anchor due to a "technical glitch," and took the moment to meditate.)

There were no snoring sounds in either video. In his explanation on Twitter, Imani admitted that he had "added the sfx" — an abbreviation for sound effects.
