Hundreds turn out again to challenge metered parking.

A crowd larger than last Friday’s turned up outside City Hall today to protest against metered parking. Today’s protest came amid moves by the government and the city to defuse the controversy. The city has suggested that tariffs much lower than the current $50 per 15 minutes plus 14% VAT will be worked out with Smart City Solutions. The protest was held for an hour between midday and 1 pm. The group which staged the protest, the Movement Against Parking Meters, wants the contract rescinded and legal action is being planned.

People power way to go,show City Hall who are the bosses.

Question For anyone who is more familiar with this matter:

Do these city meters need approval from the government before they can be installed ?

Can the government refuse to approve the rates and parking meters ?

Reason I ask is that the PPP said that they will remove the parking meters and cancel this crooked deal.

Central gov't doesn't dictate to Local Government.

Parking meters are a good idea if the revenue is spent properly and not filling the politicians' pockets. However, $50 for 15 minutes is ridiculously high. That's what we pay here in New York ($0.25US for 15 minutes at $200Gy to $1US). The idiot(s) masterminding this are trying to mimic this. How about you mimic the salaries of the people who have to pay for parking first. Reminds me of a clown a few years who said that people in Berbice shouldn't complain about the bridge toll. "Them should come hay an see how much abee ah pay".

The rates are overkill, folks at City Hall don't have a clue.
