Amazon is right, who needs to deal with CRAP. Other States will be more than happy to accommodate Mr Bezos.
Good for you and your State.
Amazon is way, way, way in Brazil, South America.
Why would Amazon come from there to Queens?
If New York don't want Amazon, well, bring it to Toronto, Canada
It was a Democrat who lobbied to kill the deal. Will post the details.
Bring those jobs to Toronto !

Ocasio-Cortez, Elizabeth Warren celebrate Amazon canceling New York headquarters amid backlash
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is taking a victory lap after delivering the goods in her fight against Amazon.
The star freshman Democrat â along with other lawmakers â had strongly criticized the planned opening of Amazonâs second headquarters in New York.
So, after Jeff Bezosâ tech giant announced Thursday it was pulling the plug on its proposed Long Island City location, the Bronx native had something to celebrate.
AMAZON PULLS OUT OF PLAN TO BUILD NEW YORK CITY HEADQUARTERS AFTER BACKLASH
âAnything is possible: today was the day a group of dedicated, everyday New Yorkers & their neighbors defeated Amazonâs corporate greed, its worker exploitation, and the power of the richest man in the world,â she tweeted.
Democratic 2020 hopeful Elizabeth Warren also celebrated the decision, tweeting: ".@Amazon â one of the wealthiest companies on the planet â just walked away from billions in taxpayer bribes, all because some elected officials in New York aren't sucking up to them enough. How long will we allow giant corporations to hold our democracy hostage?"
AMAZON'S NEW YORK HQ2 CANCELLATION DRAWS FIERY RESPONSES FROM LAWMAKERS, TECH WORLD
Other New Yorkers were not so pleased.
"Absolutely disgraceful that @amazon is driven from New York by left wing progressive politicians. Terrible loss of jobs for New York workers and New York economy," Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., tweeted.
It came after Amazon said in a statement that pushback from New York lawmakers was a key factor in the decision to cancel its plans.
AMAZON DECISION DRAWS FIERY RESPONSE
"After much thought and deliberation, weâve decided not to move forward with our plans to build a headquarters for Amazon in Long Island City, Queens," the statement read.
"For Amazon, the commitment to build a new headquarters requires positive, collaborative relationships with state and local elected officials who will be supportive over the long-term.
OCASIO-CORTEZ CHEERS AS AMAZON RECONSIDERS NY HQ AFTER FIERCE OPPOSITION
âWhile polls show that 70% of New Yorkers support our plans and investment, a number of state and local politicians have made it clear that they oppose our presence and will not work with us to build the type of relationships that are required to go forward with the project we and many others envisioned in Long Island City.â
The company added that it is "disappointed to have reached this conclusion."
The opposition against HQ2 has been mounting in recent months. In December, for example, Amazon execs were grilled and jeered at a New York City Council meeting over the deal.

Earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez trashed the plan â which had promised to create 25,000 jobs and over $27.5 billion in tax revenue in 25 years â and called on "everyday people" to "effectively organize against creeping overreach of one of the worldâs biggest corporations."
The deal was greeted with much fanfare, though, when it was announced last year and was lauded as a major economic boost by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and others.
Amazon said it would proceed as planned with the second part of its HQ2, which will be built in Northern Virginia, as well as its distribution center that it said it would open in Nashville. It will also continue to "hire and grow across our 17 corporate offices and tech hubs in the U.S. and Canada."

..people with hate do more damage to themselves
Folks, Amazon touted a new HQ with high paying jobs, but the reality is that they had scaled back those plans and were only going to bring mostly low paying jobs while the government give them 0 tax rate and pays for all of the infrastructure etc.
If Amazon wants to build, use its own money stop and scamming people.
Abu, you sound just like the socialists who chased out amazon.

Amazon says they donât want to operate in a hostile environment. Too much distractions. So they will just expand where they are.
Not sure if itâs good or bad. States competing with other states giving lucrative tax incentives. Who actually benefit?

What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
Amazon was seeking 1.5 billion in concession to move to NY. The reason they chose NY was primarily the availability of the talent for their workforce.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/1...rks-amazon-deal.html
Amazon wants to develop a four-million-square-foot campus by the East River because of the talent that resides in New York. Lots of it. According to the Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution, New York has more than 320,000 tech workers in the labor pool, the most in the nation. (Washington is second.) That talent commands high salaries, great benefits and wonât move to Pittsburgh or Austin or any other of the perfectly nice cities that tried to woo the online giant.
Which raises the question: If New York has what Amazon wants, why is it paying the company so much to make the move? Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who offered to replace his given name with the companyâs to land the deal, are doing a victory dance.
âNew York can proudly say that we have attracted one of the largest, most competitive economic development investments in U.S. history,â Amazon Cuomo said. They seem to have done so by overpaying.
Landlords and real estate developers can rejoice at the prospect of soaring property values and rents, and restaurateurs, craft brewers and kombucha makers will see new customers among the 25,000 jobholders with an average salary of $150,000 that Amazon promisesto hire over 10 years.
But the plan calls for the state to dispense $1.525 billion to the company, including $1.2 billion from its Excelsior program, which will reimburse Amazon $48,000 for every job. Another state agency, Empire State Development, will offer $325 million to the Amazonians tied to real estate projects. As for the city, Amazon can apply for tax credits that could be worth north of $1 billion from programs known as ICAP and REAP that reward companies for job creation generally, and outside Manhattan specifically. (And the campus is in a federal redevelopment area that qualifies for corporate tax breaks, letting the companyâs major stockholder, the world's richest man, keep more of his wealth.)
Oh, and Amazon wants a helipad for its chief executive, Jeff Bezos. No problem.
Cities that lost out to New York offered far more in financial incentives. But the Commonwealth of Virginia is spending a piddling $22,000 per job in the initial phase of development in Arlington, and payments will max out at $750 million if Amazon creates 37,850 jobs. The state is also throwing in $295 million in transportation improvements, including a bridge to nearby Reagan National Airport so Mr. Bezos can remain close to his copter. Thatâs still less than half of what New Yorkers will be paying out.
The prospect of handing Long Island City over to a company recently valued at $1 trillion seems distorted to some Queens politicians. They sense gentrification by fiat â another neighborhood sacrificed to the tech elite.

No worries. The next recession is due soon and the NYS/NYC revenues are dropping. All of the unemployed should then go to those folks and demand jobs from them.
I am hearing the ignorant AOC screaming about giving away $3billion in tax credits. Ray please explain to that idiot that tax credit is an offset against taxes. If no income taxes are paid then there will be no subsidy.
Baseman the GOP will be back soon because it turns out that the radical left is as lunatic as the radical right is.

This is hypocritical nonsense. Anyone who has been to LIC within the past 5 years knows that it is a jungle of high rise buildings with studios starting at $3k monthly, and occupied by greedy hipsters. All of whom arrived in N YC within the past 10 years and know nothing about how it operates.
Well their loud voices won the day bit we will see what happens when the next recession comes, loads of small businesses go belly up and it is taxes derived from the larger companies which keeps the city afloat.
