Speaker Trotman says PPP/C not Government.

Today's Guyana Times Newspaper reports that the AFC has stated that“The PPP/C will do well to recognise that a larger percentage of the Guyanese electorate voted to not have a PPP/C government”.
The paper states that "Mr Trotman is not merely identified with the AFC as a leading figure or an executive member. He is its leader and representative on its list. In these capacities, he is the leading official and chief spokesperson of the AFC."

Trotman is also the Speaker of the National Asembly, and because he fails to divorce himself from the AFC, including its leadership, it is not unreasonable to conclude that the actions of the AFC is the action of the Speaker. The reverse is also true.It is called the organic relationship of corporate responsibility.

I agree with you Gupta. Cheddi said that he would have done it. Instead, he gave us Katahar. We loved it so much, we voted in the PPP since then.

The best is democracy not autocracy. The best expression of democracy we ever had is presently where political agents have to cooperate. The PPP are the ones who have to modify their lanes to accommodate others and they have the most difficult task. So far all they do is resist and complain.

Minority Governments around the world usually make deals with the Smallest opposition party.

This election should have shown the PPP that they have very few African supporters.

The notion of having another general election when they cant have a local govt election will strike most people as being odd. Indeed local govt ha sall but collapsed as a result of this delay.

The AFC especially should make good use of this 2-3 years by further broadening its base. The PPP in 20 years has failed at getting black/mixed support. Even the Amerindians arent totally wedded to the PPP except maybe in Region 1. So they can get them too.

The days when the PPP can take for granted that it will be the majority party are over.

I never agree with Carib, but he does have a point here.

It will also be to PPP's advantage for an early election. Berbicians are uneasy since Moses was shoved aside as speaker of the house.

I visited Berbice for two days and they are not happy with the way Moses was treated.

This will backfire on the opposition if an early election is called.
